Guest guest
Overdosing on any antidepressant can be fatal. But there may be a greater risk of deadly overdose associated with Effexor than with selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors _ antidepressants like Prozac, Zoloft, Paxil and Lexapro, Wyeth said. The risk may be less than that with older antidepressants called tricyclics, it added. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/ap/health/4286941.html © 2006 The Associated Press

Guest guest
> Hi I just joined and saw this post. I concur that Effexor is awful and should be pulled. I've been on Prozac off an on for years without any side affects. Effexor almost turned me into a psycho. If I missed a dose my vertigo was off, I got nausea very bad and could barely get out of bed. I only tried it because my doctor said it was so great and so much better than Prozac. Wrong answer. I take 40mg of Prozac and 40mg of Adderall XR. I found this group and am interested to learn more about these medicines. I'm concerned about what I am taking but it's working for me...I'm afraid to go off and go back to what I was with the depression/ADD. But I hate being dependent on medicine...so I'll keep reading and see what other posts might change my mind...thanks!!! > > > > > Overdosing on any antidepressant can be fatal. Guest guest
Hi Would you mind sharing with us why you were put on antidepressants? So many times depression can be caused by something physical rather than the hypothetical chemical imbalance. I ask only because in my families case we found that they were all hypoglycemic. My wife, 2 daughters and a son were on Prozac, Celexa, Paxil, and Paxil/Effexor. They all experienced side effects, including my son being arrested. He, Corey was found to be in diminished capacity because of the abrupt discontinuation of Paxil and a significant dose of Effexor and released with time served and probation. Corey still has no memory of that day or his arrest. Amnesia is listed as a frequent adverse event for Effexor. You will find it on page 38 under Nervous system. http://www.wyeth.com/content/ShowLabeling.asp?id=100 This is a great site to find natural reason for depression, anxiety and other mental illnesses. http://www.alternativementalhealth.com/ Article on Hypoglycemia: http://www.alternativementalhealth.com/articles/hypoglycemia.htm You can find my son's stories at http://www.ssristories.com/index.php He's is the 12th school incident listed from Washington. Guest guest
Hi there, I started Prozac back when I was an out of control teenager. I wish I had known about the ADD back then. It turns out this has been my real issue. I know many people don't believe in ADD but then I say, you haven't been me for a day. I have 25 years of history that can substantiate the ADD diagnosis. It would take forever to list everything here. The proof of the diagnosis is in the results. I've suffered from depression for just as long basically because of the ADD symptoms that were not treated. Medicine is not the complete answer but I will say that the day I started Adderall XR changed everything. So many people in my family have noticed the dramatic positive change in me. Even the ones who don't believe in ADD, acknowledge the difference. I am able to study now and have just passed the first two parts of a very difficult certification. I have two more to go. I make sense when I talk now and don't talk as fast or change subjects and lose everyone as much as I did before. People don't roll their eyes at me or just walk away like they used to. I can actually listen to conversations instead of drifting off and then asking a question that was already covered. My work has improved. Before Adderall, I couldn't get started on anything and always waited until " crunch " time which is the deadline. Now, without thinking about it I just start my audits and they are completed accurately and completely. My boss has very little questions now and makes very little changes. Medicine is not the total answer though. I've changed my diet a little but and incorporated running. I run about 10 miles per week. I take Adderall breaks every other weekend and when I'm off of it, I'm not as together. Having said all of this, I wouldn't give children these medicines. I would try other mechanisms first. Also, ADD is hard to diagnose in kids, they are still developing and just may be a little more distracted for other reasons like problems at home, or difficulty with friends etc. I've had so much testing through the years for all sorts of conditions. My real condition is ADD w/low grade depression. > > > > > Hi I just joined and saw this post. I concur that > > Effexor is awful > > and should be pulled. Guest guest
Hi , You might find this link interesting: http://ssristories.com/index.php You can click on the drug or the time or location to see what this person has collected on the different antidepressants. All from press articles. Jim Hi I just joined and saw this post.
