Guest guest
I have been off of Prozac for 2 weeks now. I had most of the symptoms on the insert list of side effects including Verbal disinhibition. It took me 9 months to get off of the drug and had to actually put myself under house arrest for about 3 months because I couldn't control my mouth in public - just said what was on my mind and wanted to hurt people. I blew out quite a few people. I was also overstimulated by noise, activity levels around me, traffic, any stimuli actually. I had to use Xanax, Kava, GABA and some other calming herbs to just go to the grocery store and keep my cool. Fortunately, I am on disability (because of PTSD) so I could afford the luxury of isolating myself. I had to avoid any kind of overstimulation or hyperactivity and really work on staying away from things and people that annoyed me. > > > > I know we've posted about sexual disinhibition resulting from SSRIs, > and talked about the disinhibition of other basic impulses as well ie. > aggression and risk-taking behaviors, but has anyone experienced or > witnessed verbal disinhibition? > > I've known at least 3 people on SSRIs who have all come up with > inappropriate verbal remarks ie. stuff that you normally would just > think and not say. >

Guest guest
Virginia, Just so I'm clear, is verbal disinhibition actually listed as a potential side-effect on a prozac insert? It's been three and a half years since I've seen one, and any insert I recieved with past prescriptions made no mention of 80% of the side-effects we see now. As for my experience with verbal disinhibition on Prozac, it was bad! I was always a relatively shy guy, but when I started using Prozac at 18, I starting saying just about everything that came to my mind. There was no emotional component to my thoughts or actions. No feeling attached to that voice in my head that says that what I was saying or doing was wrong, inappropriate, dangerous, etc.. > > > > > > > > I know we've posted about sexual disinhibition resulting from SSRIs, > > and talked about the disinhibition of other basic impulses as well > ie. > > aggression and risk-taking behaviors, but has anyone experienced or > > witnessed verbal disinhibition? > > > > I've known at least 3 people on SSRIs who have all come up with > > inappropriate verbal remarks ie. stuff that you normally would just > > think and not say. > > >
