Guest guest
Hi, a, Would you mind telling me how you make your fruit slushie (ingredients) ? I must start eating healthier, and a fruit slushie sounds real good to me. I LOVE fruit. ----- Original Message ----- From: a egroups Sent: Friday, December 29, 2000 2:33 PM Subject: Re: [ ] Hi guys! Michele, Doritos!! My obsession during my pregnancy with my son added 80 pounds to my body. I ate an entire bag every day. I had constant Doritos breath. Once I delivered him, I detested the taste and even the smell. I don't know how I ate them or why I was craving them so much, but my son is a Doritos muncher too. Makes me wonder. I craved health foods when I was pregnant with my daughter, and she is a vegetarian health food lover. Go figure. I've given up all salty snacks except plain old pretzels. Good luck in switching to a healthier diet. My diet changes are really paying off. Besides loosing weight and loosing gas, I've been feeling pretty good considering the weather and the holiday season. I start my day every morning with a fruit slushy. Easy to make, just throw it all in the blender, and it's a vitamin packed fantastic tasting treat. a
Guest guest
Joan, My grocery store sells 5 pound bags of frozen strawberries and peaches. They are 5 bucks a bag, and are very good quality. The strawberries are huge! Even in season, you can't buy them for a dollar a pound! I use a vita-mix blender, which is very powerful because I use frozen fruit. For a full container, I put in 3 bananas, about a dozen of the large strawberries, about a cup of frozen peaches (they're already sliced up) and about a half cup of apple cider. I use acu dump, so my measurements are all estimates That is my basic recipe, but I add whatever fresh fruit that I have. I like adding kiwi and real apples. If you use a regular blender, I would partially defrost the frozen fruit. I keep saying I am going to make a citrus drink, but we are all so much in love with the strawberry/banana/peach slushy that I haven't bothered with anything else. On occasion I've added cranberry juice instead of apple cider. You really can experiment and add whatever you want. If you have left overs, pour it in a plastic cup and it makes a great frozen icy treat. My son heads for the freezer as soon as he comes home from school because he knows there's one waiting for him. He microwaves if for a minute so it's spoonable. It sure has gotten me eating a lot more fruit. I have it every morning for breakfast with a pancake or piece of toast. If you try it, I hope you enjoy. a ----- Original Message ----- From: Joan <cdx7159@...> < egroups> Sent: Saturday, December 30, 2000 5:46 PM Subject: Re: [ ] Hi guys! - PAULA > Hi, a, > > Would you mind telling me how you make your fruit slushie (ingredients) ? Guest guest
a, thanks so much for sending me this. I don't have the vita-mix blender, so I'll have to remember to defrost the fruit. I love cranberry juice, so I'll try that as well as the apple cider. Can't wait to try it. The next time I go shopping, I'll be dure to get the fruit. Guest guest
June, My vita-mix died over the weekend and I've been using a blender. I only partially defrosted the frozen fruit and it wasn't straining. I've been snowbound and out of many fruits, so I've been using canned Libby's mixed with frozen strawberries and a banana. The canned fruit without sugar isn't as good as the frozen fruits, but it's better than nothing. You really have to experiment and use the fruits you like the best. To get the slushy you have to use something frozen. I'm going to experiment with frozen juice concentrates and ice cubes. It should be interesting. The best part is that it's ALL good to me, so I can't mess anything up I hope you enjoy! a ----- Original Message ----- From: Joan <cdx7159@...> < egroups> Sent: Tuesday, January 02, 2001 11:49 AM Subject: Re: [ ] Hi guys! - PAULA > a, thanks so much for sending me this.
