Hi Joan,

Thank you I am excited this was a very difficult semester for me, with

being in the hospital so much. We won't go into what my smart mouths sons

thought, they do keep my friend and I laughing. Needless to say they were

having fun with it all, I don't think they think I earned those grades.

How are you doing? I am a little behind in my mail. I hope this New Year

finds you feeling better. God Bless You,

Me Mom

Thank You I still feel they were in part charity grades as I have

gotten to know these professors. My son told me there is no such thing as

a charity grade in college. Think he is trying to make me feel good.

Never in my wildest dreams did I ever expect to be a college student

closing in on two degrees. Actually getting hurt and having RA have made

this possible. As Rainsy Sue has written she doesn't look at the RA as a

bad thing, not her exact words, but words to remember.

Today is Christmas for my family. It was spoiled last week.

How are you feeling and I wish for you a special new year. Hope you are

feeling well.

To Me Mom :

Hi, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. By the way I am sure you earned

those grades. Your son is right, they don't give them away in college. I

have been taking some college courses but I put it on hold for a year. I

wish I hadn't stopped and hope to get back to school soon. I only have 6

courses to go to get my BSN. I don't know if I will ever work again, but no

one knows for sure what the future holds for any of us. However, I would

just like to get the degree in case I do go back to work. I had to stop

school for a while since my asthma and RA were giving me so much trouble. I

could hardly walk into the school without feeling like I was going to kill

over. My asthma had been so bad I would be gasping out loud and everyone

would look at me. The pain was so bad in my back I couldn't take it any

more. I have spinal stenosis too, which is very painful. My back goes into

a spasm and effects my legs and walking is almost impossible at times. Well,

my asthma is a bit better now. As far as my back I am hoping to have a nerve

block soon and I pray that it will help. I would like to get back to school

someday soon.

I hope you are having a nice " Christmas " with your family and I wish you a

Blessed New Year. I am going to watch the ball drop on TV and keep warm

inside. We have about 18 inches of snow outside. There is no way I am going

out in that.

Otherwise, I haven't been too bad lately. The usual aches and pains. I just

rubbed Vick's Vapor Rub on my back. I know some people don't like the smell

of it, but it is just about the best pain reliever there is for the money. I

don't have to worry about the smell cause I'm not going out.

Sincerely,

Hi ,

Did you ever think about finishing up your degree as a distant learner.

You do it with the college but just about everything is done over the

computer. As far as I know all colleges have this. Also, go to the

Department of Disabilities, they will work with you completely. I could

not be doing this without their help. They let the professors know what

the problems are, and only the professors. I have yet to met any teacher

who wasn't willing to bend over backwards to help me accomplish school. I

am able to get note takers, extended time on test, scribes for test. Most

teachers don't want the scribes they usually work out something so you can

do the test on your own. A lot of teachers who teach night classes have

take home test, especially if the classes are mostly adults.

Our Christmas was very special, my granddaughters were so excited to get

more presents, it was fun. My one son couldn't be here because he lives

in Virginia. My other son is trying to tell me he mixed up the dates. I

know he and his wife are lying, but I don't care. I wasn't letting anyone

spoil what was left of Christmas. My daughter who were my biggest concern

were so surprised by all the gifts I was able to get them. I always start

Christmas shopping right after the holidays. I already have my sisters

gift for next year. It seems I have always had to watch money so I learned

early on if I wanted my kids to have the Christmas I wanted for them, shop

early. Next week I will start with lay-aways, it is just something that

works for us. My mom spent the day just cleaning up the kitchen. I felt

terrible but she wasn't about to tolerate me in the kitchen doing it, she

is very happy in a kitchen.

I'm like you I will watch the ball drop, if I don't fall asleep. I'm

getting a big blanket and getting comfortable. I hope you have a very

Happy New Year and Better Healthy.

Hi June,

Thank You sometimes I think I am too old to be so involved in school. Our

Christmas was great. I took darvocet and enjoyed the day, I made up my

mind that no pain was going to interfere. I know in these last few weeks I

have learned so much about how my children feel about me. Even two of my

daughter-in-laws have been so wonderful. The other one well, I don't want

to think about her. I would rather think about my two little

granddaughters run all around this house today. Also how happy my kids

were with all the presents. It is funny but my daughter-in-laws father was

in the hospital over Christmas too. I invited him and his wife and we

laughed saying the two who spoiled the day should be together. We were

laughing over what pain killers he had and I had, we agreed morphine is not

that bad.

I hope you have a wonderful New Year and a Healthy Year.

This is a very good suggestion for and others in our group who would

find finishing the bulk of course work much easier from home. I've seen many

adds in my area for degrees that can be completed online. And you're right,

too, that many teachers will try their best to accommodate students with

special needs.

Glad to read your good reports about your Christmas celebration. I'm happy

you felt well enough to enjoy the party. That's funny about your

daughter-in-law's father (well, it's not a laughing matter that he was in

the hospital on Christmas, too, but you know what I mean) and that you

invited the other " spoiler " over.

Enjoy today. My candle is burning for you and everyone. Happy New Year!

Yes I do know what you mean, him and I were having a little fun. Of

course we were talking about drugs and the realllllly good ones. I got a

candy cane from the visiting Santa at the hospital, he was hurt no Santa

visited him.

I think a knows more about the online classes. They can be intense

but I understand as long as you keep up with the work, you are okay. I

would do this if I had too but I like the interaction with the other

students. I think I have a mouth that just likes to get talking. I do

prefer to be out with other people and hope I can keep doing it. It is

what has saved my sanity threw all this.

How you are feeling well and had a Happy New Year. My candle is burning.
