Guest guest
I was just wondering what probono means? I might look for help that way if I knew what it means.. Can someone explain? At least it is good to know that the possibility of getting a probono explant is there. I guess it just takes talking to the right people. The only caveat I can think of is that the kind of attention to detail in the surgery might not be there, when it is very, very necessary in our cases. But an explant done probono is still probably better than no explant at all. Billie Jo, let us know if you seek this kind of assistance, and it works out for you. They told me to have her call the social services department of the hospital. She was accepted and her surgery was done for free. I don't know if that would work now given the continued controversary surrounding our issue but it might be worth a try. Take care.Wanda
Guest guest
Billie-Jo, Probono means that the professional does it without collecting a fee. Services are donated as a gesture of good will, done for free for those in need. It is expected of all lawyers to do that at some point in their careers....it would be nice if plastic surgeons regularly did that too. Guest guest
Thank you for that info... I will start asking around. I have a friend right now who is going to try to raise some funds for me through a photographers website that I am a part of. I am a photographer. He lives clear on the otherside of the U.S. from me and is gonna see what he can do. I will let you know how it turns out. I have my consult appointment on March 11th with a Plastic Surgeon that I found on the posted Drs. by this group. He is Dr. Melvin in Portland, Or. which is about 2 hours south of where I live. Guest guest
Patty; a lot of plastic surgerons and other specialized physicians do probono work...doctors without borders is a wonderful organization. My internest spends two weeks twice a year in Peru doing probono work and has told of amazing stories, work that plastic surgerons have done for the poor. Guest guest
I'm sure we have all heard of that type of work being done for the poor in other countries. My plastic surgeon went on medical missions to South America regularly. I'm talking about probono work for those in THIS country! The plastic surgeons seem totally oblivious to the pain and suffering breast implants are causing right in their own backyard.
