Guest guest
, I'm sorry that you're not feeling well. Try drinking some decaf tea with a spoonful of honey and a squeeze of lemon. This always seemed to help me when I had an upper respitory onfection. I've heard that honey is good for asthma. Maybe you could call your RA MD and he could call you in an antibiotic. The hard part is knowing if it's bacterial or viral. Guest guest
, I'm sorry you're feeling so bad. Do try and go to your Dr if she want call in a RX for you. I know when your sick the last thing you want to do is get dressed, drive to a dr's office and then sit around for an hour or so, but sometimes it's what we have to do to get the rx's we need. My primary want ever give me any kind of rx without going in to see her. I think she wants to charge to office visit . Hope you feel better soon. Guest guest
: Sounds like you fell right into the flu season. It is more difficult being on an immune suppressant drug too. You need some antibiotics ASAP somehow someway. I hope our dr. will prescribe some over the phone without you having to go in. Perhaps your Rheumie might do the same for you since he/she is familiar with your condition and circumstances. Hang in there kiddo, stay warm, drink lots of fluids and get lots of rest. Sorry you are sick. Jeannette
Guest guest
hi denise, i just read your post. sounds kinda like me about a month ago. i am finally starting to feel better that way. but my ankles and back are really sore and stiff. i finally picked up my disability papers today. i was shocked when i saw she put me out indefinatly. unable to perform lifting, prolonged sitting, standing, fine manipulation. what am i gonna do now? i am on 1/2 pay now for up to a year. i also gave them a prescription for an adjustable desk. so hopefully they can put me back to work sometime soon. hang in there. it will get better. just gotta take one thing at a time. good luck with the dr. Guest guest
, You sound really miserable. I'm so sorry. Please try to forget your " to do " list for awhile. I know it's easier said than done, but you've got to concentrate on getting over this infection. Could someone else do some of those things for you? I know you don't feel like going in, but many doctors just won't prescribe over the phone, especially if they don't know you well. As difficult to go in as it is, overall it's in your best interest and the doctor's, too. Especially since you have so many health problems and have surgery coming up, the doctor will probably want to check you out to make the diagnosis certain. What if it's not really bronchitis? What if there are other complications? For your safety, you probably should be seen. Please let us know what happens. > Need to vent. Guest guest
Hi , Today's Pasadena Star mentioned that the local hospitals in the Los Angeles area had the highest number of patients with upper respiratory infections ever recorded for the same time period. The article stated that it was possibly caused by the delay in the flu vaccine. I hope you are feeling better. Guest guest
Don't worry a about the tree. Tomorrow is Epiphany- " 3 Kings Day " - so the Christmas season is still not officially over. I've used that as my excuse for years. I hate to say it but I actually put some decorations out last weekend- so the place wouldn't look too Scroogelike when my sister and came for New Years. I had such great plans this year- thinking that because I'd be home on sick leave I'd really be able to enjoy the season- never actually got that motivated though. I am beginning to favor snowmen decorations cause I can justify them most of the winter. LOL.
Guest guest
Hey, ! I believe today, January 6, is the Feast of the Epiphany - at least for this Roman Catholic gal. My kids just finished opening their presents. I've decided that my tree will stay where it is until it is officially a fire hazard or until the last day that Recycle Man will come to pick it up, whichever comes first. > Don't worry a about the tree. Guest guest
Hey Billie-Jo, Almost all of us had a hard time coming up with the money. It is very sad how we were taken advantage of and not told to be prepared for what could happen, which, of course, only makes the Plastic surgeons richer while we get ripped off. Most of us had to really struggle to find the money. We borrow from family and friends, max out credit cards, dig into retirement accounts, take out loans, fight with insurance companies, and do whatever else it takes to find the funds for explant. One way or another, it usually works out. Some of the girls have had success with getting Medicaid to pay for it, so I hope you are given some tips on how to get help that way. Unfortunately, there are not many foundations that have the funds to assist us. You might want to contact Dr. Zuckerman at the National Center for Policy Research for Women and Families...her organization is very supportive of our situations, and she may have access to some funds someway. I don't know. But it is worth a shot. Here is her link: http://www.center4policy.org/ and I have communicated back and forth, and one of my questions was Why in the world are there not probono plastic surgery services available to those in need? We know that the attorneys offer probono services for legal aid in situations where it is needed, and it is expected of all attorney's to do this kind of work early in their careers. We desperately need probono services in the field of plastic surgery, but I am not holding my breath. It would be so nice if they could recognize the need to offer these services for women who are desperate, broke and extremely ill, too ill to work and take care of themselves. But they are just too greedy to be able to do anything as kind and compassionate as that. Jerks! It will probably never happen because the minute they do, they will be giving credibility to our claims. They can't bear to do that. I hope you find a way Billie-Jo. Let us know. Guest guest
Hi Billie-Jo and Patty: In 1993, I called the Department of Plastic Surgery, Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas and asked them to do a probono BI explant for a very sick lady who had no money. They told me to have her call the social services department of the hospital. She was accepted and her surgery was done for free. I don't know if that would work now given the continued controversary surrounding our issue but it might be worth a try. Take care. Guest guest
Welfare will pay! Can't you buy the welfare insurance if you're on disability to give you extra coverage? God Bless, I'll be praying for you. simison <wan6922@...> wrote: Hi Billie-Jo and Patty:In 1993, I called the Department of Plastic Surgery, Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas and asked them to do a probono BI explant for a very sick lady who had no money. They told me to have her call the social services department of the hospital. She was accepted and her surgery was done for free. I don't know if that would work now given the continued controversary surrounding our issue but it might be worth a try. Take care.Wanda Billie-Jo wrote: Well, I just found out it will cost me $3,852 to have my explantation. Not as bad as I thought, but now I have to find a way to come up with the money... husband has about $1000 in retirement fund... but that is it. I have no family of my own, just my sister and she says she doesn't think she can help. So now I am hoping to find a cosigner to get a loan for the money. I can't get one myself but can with a cosigner. Pray for me please. Guest guest
Wanda, This is great information...I never heard of that before, but it certainly makes sense! At least it is good to know that the possibility of getting a probono explant is there. I guess it just takes talking to the right people. The only caveat I can think of is that the kind of attention to detail in the surgery might not be there, when it is very, very necessary in our cases. But an explant done probono is still probably better than no explant at all. Billie Jo, let us know if you seek this kind of assistance, and it works out for you.
