Guest guest
Firstly, people in this group seem to be quite nice, and have lots of great info! I got off too, and stick around just to keep up, and perhaps lend a helping hand to those requesting info from people like us that got off SSRI's. For me, a 6 week taper from 30mg per day was all it took with little side effects after discontinuing. I was on Lex for 7-8 months and other SSRI's for 5+ years. Lex was a piece of cake....not so with Effexor for me. (VERY difficult) I do not necessarily think they are bad (just bad for me), but have mentioned that I do not think that there is enough info out there on the class of meds we know as SSRI's, and possible long term effects. Jeff > I don't know if you want me in your group because I had just got off > Lexapro 20mg. Wellbrutin 75mg. It's been ruff getting off. I was > having lots of side effects on the medicines. I didn't feel good on > them any way. I've been on them for about 5 years now. Zoloft, > Celexa, Lexapro, Wellbrutin. Started on them for hormone imbalance, > you know that peri-mental pasal. You know that 40 stuff!! > mechelle
Guest guest
Hi, You may want to google the " Second Opinion Society " . They have a web page that talks about how to get off psychiatric meds safely. Plus, here is an article in Canada's Common Ground magazine about pregnancy and antidepressants that you really need to read: http://commonground.ca/iss/0612185/cg185_cassels.shtml I have heard that when you are pregnant your body sometimes produces hormones that will stabilize you mentally and keep you from getting too depressed/ going crazy. Its afterwards that people sometimes have problems, but not during. If you can breastfeed for a month or two and then go back on medication, you may be fine. I really hope that you have another child if you want to. It would be an awful shame if you didn't get to have a bustling family just because of something like this. Happy Holidays! Folic acid and natural hormone therapy are some things I have heard of but you need to talk to a credentialed health practitioner and do your research. You really need to do the research before taking anything or stopping taking anything, there are tons of solutions out there and some are superior to others and some are downright dangerous. " Hormones, Health and Happiness " by f. Hotze, MD is a fascinating book and very enlightening. He has several awesome sections on depression: Depression, pages 14, 23, 24, 208, 226, 246 depression and adrenal fatigue 139 depression and allergies, 32, 34 depression and estrogen dominance, 103-105, 111, 112 If you choose to protect your baby and get off the drugs there are many resources ph Glenmullen's book " The Antidepressant Solution " is his approach to the horrible time that many have getting off antidepressants and outlines the potential problems and has solutions to those. I have seen several people try to get off antidepressants without proper help and have such a hard time of the withdrawal that they feel that they are for sure defective and cling to the drug when I know others that toughed it out and discovered it was the drugs all along and feel better for getting off of them.
