I would like to have a midwest gathering in the Spring when the weather gets

better. I think that would be really nice. Where would we meet? If it was

in Milwaukee, that would be even greater and more duable for me. Chicago

area traffic is a nervous breakdown in the make for me but I can do it if I

have to.

i've never ridden it. i used to love roller coasters. carnivals. now pretty

much i stay close to home!! 3 surgeries on my hands i don't think i'd trust

them to hold on anymore.

LaCrosse is way on the other side of Wisconsin from Milwaukee and maybe down

some, not sure. Toronto is a beautiful city, went there on my honeymoon and

feel in love with the city. But, however, nonetheless, I could not afford to

get back there anytime in the near to not so near future. I'd would love to

but money money money!!! If you go, spare me no details. I will be there

vicariously when you get back with all your stories.

They have all these different festivals in Milwaukee starting in June on the

Summerfest grounds which is located right on Lake Michigan. We could meet at

one of the festivals??????? Festa Italiano is an eating binge.......yum yum

yum!!! I can get a schedule in Spring of dates of festivals when it comes

out. I know the grounds well enough I could pin point a meeting spot. Think

summer and warm weather heartlanders........

sounds nice. will have to try and save some cash. very poor now. between the

snow and my neck i only worked wednesday this week.yikes!!!i missed mon/tues

for snow. worked wednesday, really stiff neck. then stuck in the car 2 hrs

home. between my neck and feet. i sat with the heating pad and cried for

about an hour. i scared my son so bad he came home from the bus stop because

he was afraid to leave me alone. then i cried a couple more hours. heat, rest

dbl anti-inflammatories. should be as good as new in a couple days. yeah

right...don't we all wish. my car has been in the shop 3 weeks wed. thats

after i brought it back a day after they put 1100.00 in it!!!! the mechanics

are stupmed as to what is wrong. now my son's car needs a battery and won't

start. but on the bright side (i guess) my ra is writing a letter about me

having an adjustable work station. i work at the computer all day. this way i

can stand and work when i get stiff. i sit and it pushes my neck out of line,

presses on the nerves and i get dizzy. so hopefully this will help. take care

all.

visit her approx every 3-4 months........Milwaukee, Madison,Chicago,Rockford

That could be fun, could someone from MI, invite

themselves. I have friends in Milwaukee. Do they still

have ferry over from Ludington, MI, I wonder. How far

are you from LaCrosse. My cousin and his wife are from

there (Onalaska). Its fun. Riley, my littlest kitty,

came from there. Of course, there is the other

possibility, not Midwest, exactly, but Toronto is neat

in the summer.

Milwaukee would be fine. I was just tossing out ideas to

folks. What is a reunion ( or " union " since most of us

have not physically met) if all or most couldn't go!

Hope that you get the adjustable work station, Kathy, and that it helps you

work more comfortably. Your son is sweet to worry about you and take care of

you.

Crossing my fingers that both cars will be functional very soon with little

more expense. Don't worry about our outing - we'll try to keep the cost way

down.

Sounds good to me. Have you ever gone to the Stratford

Festival in Stratford, Ontario. June might be up to that

too. I usually manage to get tickets on the main floor

of the festival theatre - explaining the RA. The stairs

in the balcony are quite steep with no railing. My

mother laughs but she usually sits with me. I think my

family loves me in part because of my handicapped

parking sticker ( just kidding - but we do manage to

joke rather than dwell on the negative parts of the

illness.)

replacement first and races with those scooters you

know who'd win and all we're a couple of sickos when

it comes to joking arround..

Wisconsin in winter: I realize that this hasn't been the real thread here,

but man, just THINKING about some winter jaunts I have made up there in

Winter is enough to GIVE my joints some pain even if they had none before!

YOUCH!

I've been there when it's snowed in late October, and in early April. I was

in Chicago for the January National Housewares Show, the US's biggest trade

show, when the thermo hit -37, a record at that time for Chicago. They

clopsed the schools that day----for only the second time in local history.

I remember standing in a parking lot waiting to go into a company in Elk

Grove Village, right behind O'Hare Airport, and it was so cold that day that

when the low-flyin' jets shrieked, ICE CRYSTAL rained down, and the engines

revving at this low temp sounded like shattering glass. I had a headache

next day to beat the band....

But hey, WI in the warmer seasons, i.e., for 15 minutes in June and

uly( JOKING, people, just JOKING!) is a truly beautiful, nice place. So

CIVIL and CLEAN compared to the Northeast! I was with a business group once

in Munich, Bavaria(Freistadt Beyern) Germany, and one wisemouth, NOT ME,

said, " Hey! Ain;t it great to be back in WISCONSIN?! " The similarities are

major.

I am a native Wisconsinite and love the beautiful through New Years then I

want it to go away. Unfortunately it hangs around for at least three more

months. That is when everybody gets cabin fever. Snow before and during the

holidays is very welcomed. It is quite festive. Gosh, you certainly are the

world traveler. Aren't you fortunate. I would love to travel alot

in general with apraxic kids i think you need to push for frequent ONE ON

ONE therapy using methods appropriate for apraxia. Lots of documentation

exists on this - The Late Talker book being a great start.
