Look where this is going. When they collect it, Homeland Security will want it.

When Mc's says, " Sorry we don't serve bi-polars " then maybe people will

wake up.

Subject: [Noforce] The myth of confidentiality in New York

New York State's Office of Mental Health new comprehensive 5 year plan applauds

the arrival of information technology like some perverted Pharma mantra of the

70's, 80's and 90's. And while many of us are still stuggling to survive

Pharma's " saving grace " this new information technology savior with its data

driven performances indicators and evidence-based therapies promises to be even

more spectacular at " solving the mental health problem. "

The only problem is that they fail to tell you that they are stealing the data

from our minds without our consent or knowledge. And that they have no intention

of doing otherwise. In fact, they see no ethical dilemma between promising

confidentiality and then betraying it as an institutional practice. They are

even somwhat annoyed that someone has brought it to their attention.

On January 15, OMH said that they would respond in 30 days to a Freedom of

Information Law request regarding information gathering for their database

without informed consent. They haven't responded. This is after they failed to

provide accessible records sought by the original FOIL request that was written

in December. Which was only written because OMH failed to send information they

twice promised me when I worked for an OMH licensed agency. Is anyone starting

to recognize a pattern of deceit?

New York State Office of Mental Health definition of informed consent (From

their website):

" Informed consent means the legally effective knowing agreement of a patient, or

his or her personal representative, with sufficient capacity to agree and so

situtated as to be able to exercise free power of choice without undue

inducement or any element of force, fraud, deceit, duress or any other form of

constraint or coercion. "

If they want to gather and analyse all this data why must they do it through

creating a personally identifiable database. Data can be gathered then analysed

where the identity is known only in one direction, which would be more in

keeping with the promise of confidentialty. OMH rejects this, as they reject

informed consent about the database and the Baseline Assessment Form which is

used to gather the data that tracks and profiles the unknowing individual. And

we are talking about thousands of victims of " force, fraud, deceit, duress or any

other form of constraint or coercion. "

When you thought they had perfected every conceivable manner of institutional

discrimination and human rights violations, they keep coming up with more.

Data-driven- decision making. Aren't I glad that I've finally become a

statistic, gathered without my consent or knowledge. Well at least I think that

priests and lawyers still respect confidentiality.

To be continued..............
