Guest guest
YESTERDAY, I am told that it was 41, FORTY ONE, in Palm Beach. That's cold enough to keep even the most dedicated Butterfly Balotteer home from voting! Scrtatch that. When it's 41 in FLORIDA, albeit a morning reading, what chance to the REST of us have?! Guest guest
Kringlemom: I certainly understand why you need to go on medical leave. It is a difficult time of the year. Actually it was in February of 1998 that I quite my job too. I couldn't handle it any more. I eventually got disability. Have a restful and peaceful leave. I am sure it will do you a world of good. Guest guest
it finally hit me this afternoon. i don't know when my next check will be. i get paid on the 29th but only worked one day!! i still have my sons soc security for the next 10 mos. plus i will get 1/2 pay on medical leave. it's just getting it going and the 5 day unpaid wait. i asked if i could back date to thursday when i first missed for my neck and they said yes so 2 more unpaid days to go. i really didn't plan and have about $30. but we have food heat phone elec. so we should be ok. plus my parents arrived at my sisters today. so i know they will help me out if i need it. they said it was the worst trip from florida since we got stuck in indiana in 67. i know for my health, i made the right choice. i just gotta keep telling myself this. guess i', done x-mas shopping!!! my mom seemed to take it ok. she even said if i go on perm. disability. she'd hang on to her little home she has in fl for me. it's an adult park and my son would have to be 19 to stay longer than 30 days. my mom in law has always said she'd sell her house too and we'd get one together. i'm just not ready for this yet. kathy

Guest guest
, I hope is feeling better. It really pains me to hear how much he is hurting. Times like this we all wish the doctors still made house calls. a ----- Original Message ----- From: <12341234@...> < egroups> Sent: Monday, December 18, 2000 8:54 AM Subject: Re: [ ] Re: The Sunshine State > , > > don't envy us southern members to much. right now its about 31 and frost all > over. over the weekend we had tornados that killed 10 people and winds up 50 > miles an hour. jesse is hurting so much. he has a drs appointment at 9:45 > this morning but iam calling to change it for later in the week and later in > the day. its just to cold to take him out. he cried saying that he is so cold > and didn't want to go to the dr at all. so we made a deal. i can't say that i > blame him at all. > > stay warm, > shelly > > >
Guest guest
Jon, When I was about 20, I was in Miami when it SNOWED! Everyone was freaking out. Some people had never seen snow. You're right, if it's that cold in Florida, you know we're cold! a ----- Original Message ----- From: Jon <apex@...> < egroups> Sent: Monday, December 18, 2000 9:32 AM Subject: Re: [ ] Re: The Sunshine State > YESTERDAY, I am told that it was 41, FORTY ONE, in Palm Beach. Guest guest
Kathy, I'm sorry you are hurting so bad. I think you are smart for going on medical leave. It is so hard to brave the elements when you are in so much pain. Aren't you eligible for disability while you are out? I hope you are feeling better today. a ----- Original Message ----- From: <kringlemom@...> < egroups> Sent: Monday, December 18, 2000 11:52 AM Subject: Re: [ ] The Sunshine State > thanks for the warning. i couldn't believe the weather forecast!!! another 6 > inches!!! i got up heard that . reviewed my aches and pains and the weather. > i have decided to go on medical leave for now. i can't take anymore. my feet > and ankles are hurting. i slipped on the ice last night. didn't fall, but now > my whole left side is hurting and stiff. i just can't handle any more. i > don't want to get stuck on the road another 2 hours. it's not fair to my > co-workers. i am missing more and more time. time to just take the 1/2 pay > and try to rest. not sure how i'll survive but i just need a break. >
Guest guest
Kathy, It is comforting to know that you have family to help you. The transition from work to disability is terrible. State disability or temporary disability only pays for 6 months in my state, yet SS disability can take up to 2 years to get your first check. I guess we're supposed to beg, borrow and steal for a year and a half. There is city welfare in many cities that will help. It is a terrible burden when we're already so sick. I don't think any of us were prepared to become disabled. You should try to find out what is available to you so that you save what money you have for food. Many states have energy assistance so that you will have heat and electric. I'm just glad that you have family to help you too. a ----- Original Message ----- From: <kringlemom@...> < egroups> Sent: Monday, December 18, 2000 5:47 PM Subject: Re: [ ] The Sunshine State > it finally hit me this afternoon. i don't know when my next check will be. i > get paid on the 29th but only worked one day!! i still have my sons soc > security for the next 10 mos. plus i will get 1/2 pay on medical leave. it's > just getting it going and the 5 day unpaid wait. i asked if i could back date > to thursday when i first missed for my neck and they said yes so 2 more > unpaid days to go. i really didn't plan and have about $30. but we have food > heat phone elec. so we should be ok. plus my parents arrived at my sisters > today. so i know they will help me out if i need it. they said it was the > worst trip from florida since we got stuck in indiana in 67. i know for my > health, i made the right choice. i just gotta keep telling myself this. guess > i', done x-mas shopping!!! my mom seemed to take it ok. she even said if i go > on perm. disability. she'd hang on to her little home she has in fl for me. > it's an adult park and my son would have to be 19 to stay longer than 30 > days. my mom in law has always said she'd sell her house too and we'd get one > together. i'm just not ready for this yet. kathy
Guest guest
Kathy- Contact your local Legal Aid program. They should have public benefits advocates who will provide advice and information on how to qualify and move the process forward on your behalf. Both lawyers and paralegals can attend hearings for you and Legal Aid attorneys and pro- bono attorneys receive special training. They should be able to provide info and qualifications for other programs - state and federal for heating, transportation, medical assistance etc.. Guest guest
- I haven't forgotten you. I have a friend who is a nun and an attorney - she is a patient advocate at St. Hospital in Nashville but was formerly in Mobile. I am checking to see if she knows of any pediatric gastro guys. Happy New Year hugs. Hope all is well.
