, Jan, and Kay, Thank you for expressing your sympathy, an all of the rest of you, who were kind enough too. We will all miss our sister, Joyce, we have not forgotten little flower, P.J. Brent, Barbara, Sue, or any other sister who's death is a result of silicone. I'm going to copy 's email to you, an I'd like for each of you, to pass this information on to your contact list. I am saddened to learn of the loss of another woman with implants. Please pass on the following information which may help women convince their doctors that their implants are causing health problems. CANDO (Chemically Associated Neurological Disorders) preliminary research is finding significant amounts of platinum in a harmful form (6+ being the most toxic) in the following body fluid samples and tissues: blood, urine, sweat, breast milk, hair, nails, liver, brain, breast, pancreas, leg blood vessel, spleen, heart, and lung. If anyone would like to have their urine tested for platinum, it can be tested for around $110. If you have been explanted for a number of years and have done a lot of detoxification, platinum may not show up in your urine. Known classic symptoms to occupational external platinum salt exposure includes (1) Rhinorrhea (2)Sneezing (3)Itching of nose, throat, palate, (4)nasal congestion (5)Cough (6)Dyspnes (7)Asthmatic Wheezing (8)Cyanosis (9)Conjunctivitis (10)Edema of eyes (11)Lacrimation (12)Redness of eyes (13) Itching of Eyes (14)Photophobia (15)Urticaria (16)Angioedema (17) Contact Dermatitis (18)Pruritia (19)Lymphocytosis and (20)Eosinophilia. Other suspected toxic and hypersensitivity reactions to platinum salts or chloroplatinic acid used as a catalyst in making silicone gel and shell include tinnitus, fatigue syndromes secondary to impaired oxygen exchange, neurotoxicity, sicca syndrome, and macular rashes. Ray Biagini, Ph.D., platinum expert with CDC/NIOSH states "Soluble salts of platinum are the most potent chemical sensitizers known to man. In discussions with Dow and other companies which had made silicone implants, I'm relatively satisfied that they used chloroplatinic acid as catalysts. Recent discussions with them lead to much double talk regarding the species of platinum that was used. The bottom line is, if soluble platinum salts were leeched from the implants, one would expect significant symptoms of allergic type reactions. I have no idea what would happen if these chemicals were implanted in the human body, but I'm sure there would be some effects. NIOSH doesn't have responsibility for medical devices, FDA is the responsible agency, and I believe they are slowly looking in to platinum."
