Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.

Doesn't the amount of virus in your system increase the chances of

further liver damage? On a scale of 0 (healthy) to 3 (cirhossis) I am a

2 in both liver damage and fibrosis. If the virus attaches itself to

your liver, isn't there risk of further damage with the higher viral

loads?

Strange, I have more faith in the information I get here than I do from

my liver doctor. He tells me that with my viral load dropping, even

though I haven't gone in remission, treatment has helped. He always

refers to my normal liver function tests. But we all know that those

tests can be normal even if we have cirhossis from recent studies.

I'm not quite sure how this virus, by attaching itself to your liver,

causes liver damage. And how much do they know about what other damage

HCV causes to our bodies. It seems that most of what I hear about is

liver damage....but it's a systemic virus and has to be affecting other

parts of our body, doesn't it?

Hi,

If the viral load is being correctly done and goes up with treatment, it means

that the treatment is

inadequate and needs to be changed or terminated.

Dear Dr. Misra,

What happens if the viral load goes UP with treatment? None of my physicians

have been able to figure this one out. The consensus of opinion if that I'm

tough, but I'm TOO LITTLE to withstand the treatment. I think they're right,

but, if you have any bright ideas, I'm open for suggestion. Thanks, Anne

You are so wonderful, Claudine....thanks for getting back so quickly.

That's what it was...I guess during the rebetron brain fog I forgot <g>

But I've been off treatment a couple months....shouldn't my memory be

coming back to me?

If fibrosis is scar tissue what exactly does liver inflammation mean or

rather what exactly is inflammation?

Between the weather and my grandmother (she fell at the nursing home

and rebroke her leg so is back in the hospital) I have been a bit out

of touch. We only got about 8 " of rain where I live, but we live very

close to where two major rivers which flooded run together, and it

flooded this area. We have not had electricity during the day for the

past two days, only at night. Something about the risks of

electrocution? The worst is our water though It comes out of the

faucets looking almost bloody. I've been drinking bottled water, but

forgot a little while ago and took some pills with faucet water. I

feel sick to my stomach now - don't know if it's really the water or

just in my head! Well, I'm sure I'll survive! I sure hope it doesn't

rain any more though!

Hi Claudine

You've had it ruff in Texas with the rains.....well, Vancouver gets a

lot of rain, just like Seattle. When it rains a lot here (luckily I've

never had a flood) the tap water looks yellowish...or just plain dirty.

I've seen the color so dirty looking I figured a shower wasn't going to

clean me much....LOL. If you just took a sip of the water with pills,

you'll live. Not pleasant though, it might make you feel sick, but like

you said, could be just the thought of drinking it. The tap water here

isn't considered good water anymore so I use a brita filter but I always

forget to use it when I'm taking my pills....and I'm still not used to

the fact that I can't grab a drink of water from the bathroom tap. I

still do that. But my main source of water is from an artesian well, or

the brita filter....so I figure I'm getting 90% of good water everyday.

The rest of it won't make much difference. But I do understand why the

rain makes the color so yucky.

I will be praying for your grandmother....what a bummer to re-break her

leg. And of course, it's not easy on you having to do all that

travelling back and forth. Take care dear and stay away from power

lines.

rain makes the color so yucky.

I will be praying for your grandmother....what a bummer to re-break her

leg. And of course, it's not easy on you having to do all that

travelling back and forth. Take care dear and stay away from power

lines.
