Guest guest
I seem to remember reading when we first joined the group that there is a theory and/or evidence that being treated with steroids can cause a person to fall into a deep depression even if they have never had a problem with depression before. Does anyone have any info on this? My son's former fiancee, his sister and I were discussing the reasons that we had all thought he needed to " seek professional help " because he seemed to have lost his focus and was angry all the time. We pinpointed the time as Spring 2003. I then looked back through his belongings and realised that he had taken 2 weeks off from work in early March due to a horrible case of poison ivy. He worked for the county road department and they had cleared away a lot of underbrush along the right-of-way and he became covered from head-to-toe. He went to the doctor and was given an injection and dose pack of a steroids. He complained the whole time he took the medication about " feeling like crap. " Then he seemed to become less focused, more angry and, for lack of a better word, depressed (way beyond the normal ups and downs of life). Thoughts? Information? B.J.
