There are military regulations that provide for religious exemptions, and there is a specific process for doing that. There are regulationsthat apply to all branches, and some branch-specific policies. Thereare regulations that apply to military personnel, military families, and military contractors. In my experience, few military folks(whether they be prospective exemption applicants of those to whomexemption questions and applications may be presented) are aware ofthis. So, if you're going to make any headway, you best be prepared tocite applicable regulations, and to follow proper procedure, or you'relikely to be rejected out of hand. Granting of the exemption is discretionary, but if granted, it can berevoked as the mission may require (just as civilian exemptions can berevoked in an outbreak, impending bioterrorist attack, etc.). Also, air force exemptions, even when granted, are only

temporary (thoughI've seen nothing yet that defines exactly what that means...)There appears to be some ambiguity and/or lack of specificity in theregs--e.g., can children in overseas military schools be exempt, orchildren of military contractors in military schools; can familiesexercise and exemption if the military father or mother isn'texercising the exemption, etc., but for personnel, the procedure isclear, you just have to know what/where it is and follow it, and thenit will either be granted or not.Hope that helps, Alan www.vaccinerights. com (website undergoing revisions, looks a lot better now!)> > From: <dlpirl@...>>
