" You would be surprised at how many youth we deal with that have or had a sexually transmitted disease, drink, smoke and have sex on a regular basis, " said Tonja , 28, coordinator of the diverse group of men and women ages 15-21. Since 1985, RAP has reached out to predominantly at-risk 10- to 21-year-olds, said . The group is part of the private, not-for-profit Mississippi Children's Home Services, a statewide corporation operating since 1912 that offers social and behavioral health services to children and families. Among groups RAP works with are schools, churches, group homes, detention centers, adolescent offender programs, after-school programs and community centers. " We will present whenever and wherever invited, " said . " We tailor make presentations according to the audience and the sponsor who requests our service. " said the team presentations include graphic pictures about HIV and STDs and underage drinking. Last year, the RAP Team reached 12,204 youths statewide, according to the MCHS annual report.
