Guest guest
I think those of us who are TABs would have a hard time coping with physical limitations, and walking is the quintessential basic human ability. I have learned an incredible amount about how it feels to be born disabled from you guys. I have learned that this isn't an obsession with you! Thanks so much for that - it has really helped me cope with Bernie (who is finally, at the age of 6, starting to bug for a medicine that will make him able to walk.) Must be our talk from the recent conference, at which he had a blast in his new power chair. Bettylou > YEah Dee, its rather crazy in my opinion. im picturing him running around > with a vent strapped to his back. What's with his WALKING obsession? Guest guest
My 10 pence worth on this, C. Reeve will never accept or adjust to life with an impairment if he keeps on hungering after something that will never ever happen. Great if he can get some improvement but like you said, take urself for a pee or breathe on ur own his walking obsession is i think a bit dangerous to him and to other people newly disabled. And yes now im gonna sound evil but he really should stop with the whinging he has employment opportunities (how many other disabled people can get work in Hollywood), no worries about care support or if he can afford to buy an adapted vehicle - yes his accident was terrible but no more terrible than thousands of others that it happens to every year who dont have the financial support he does. So there!! And yes Darth vadar is vented im sure he was the first 'trendy' vented person to appear on our screens.!!

Guest guest
This maybe a UK thing and it was from the 80's and things have moved on. But do people remember / know of PC. olds. I was at school during the whole story. ALL the rehab staff (AB) thought it was great what he was trying, an ALL the pupils (Non-AB) knew how it would end. The press just wanted their " Hero " story. Also, I personly dont see a big benifit to not traching if you need it 24/7. I mean there are many ppl with trach/vents who live active lives. It doesnt look any worse than sucking on a mouth piece all day. Sure if you only needed it part time I could see NIV. But even with NIV you still are dependent on the vent. Maybe he didnt want anything near his mouth for talking/photos. I dont think we know enough of his medical status to say...

Guest guest
I'm not obsessed with anything. I know I wont get better and will get worse. I just wanted to point out if I had to pick of one thing to fix on me it wouldn't be to walk.... I do think he has it off better than most disabled. But I don't think he gets everything.... I doubt he was the richest actor out there. He was really only famous for superman and that was in the 80's. I doubt he saved money for a rainy day. I doubt he can get many roles disabled. There aren't many disabled parts out there. He has a family (kids) to raise. I'm sure some Hollywood friends dropped him because he's disabled now. Even though he's famous I still think he still gets some of the unfair treatment we do. I know many who were TAB and now are disabled who obsesses on walking. Even those who get MS later in life seek to walk. Unfortunately, Reeves is famous and can publicly spread the idea that being disabled is bad. A grid or chart that you fill out as you learn about a drup or a group of drugs. The grid is posted in Tutorials for pharmacology I believe. Guest guest
Hi, Wow, I you are doing wonderful! I am new to this, banded on August 17th and really not sure as to what I should eat or if I should be following a strick plan. I will start to have solids next week....I don't feel restriction and can't wait to feel like I can only eat 1/2 cup at times. Please give me an idea of your diet and the things you eat and do....Thanks,
Guest guest
Wow 57lbs over about 4 months and you think that is slow. Congratulations. I think you are doing well. I hope that by December I can say I lost 57 lbs. Deborah F.
Guest guest
WOW, Ken 57 lbs, and no fill, just curious how tall are you and how much more do you want to loose, to me it seems 175 is a good weight, my husband weighs 195 and doesn't have an ounce of fat on him, but he is 5'9. Just curious, I think you are doing awesome without a fill. Tracie B. 248/217 Just wondering... Well I had my band done early May this year and I'm still yet to have a fill. I'm still losing weight all be it at a slooooooooooooow rate now (I was 232 lbs and now 175 lbs this morning) I know there is no hard and fast rule to when you have your first fill but I know I must be in a minority for not having had a fill yet. So guy's...should I have a fill anyway or carry on like I am? tyvm Ken
Guest guest
HI Jody I believe I started out with lots of jello,....soups,.....I've always been able to eat crunchie things like crackers, ok....you can try mushie stuff first which is anything you can think of,..but try to make choices that will do well for your body,..make healthy choices. Start making your food work for you. I have this book at home that tells me the nutritional content of foods. I have begun to eat things that give me the most nutrients... Color is good,...eat reds and greens and yellows!! Jody Sparks <sparkle4@...> wrote: Hi, Wow, I you are doing wonderful! Guest guest
Hey Tracie I'm itty bitty at 5 foot 6 so I'm thinking about another 20 lbs plus to go I guess. Oh and when I said I was losing at a slow rate I meant that for the first couple of months the weight just 'flew' off me but that the last month or so the weightloss really slowed down Thank you for the nice comments btw. Guest guest
Thanks Deborah Its a lot easier for us men to lose the weight at the start so they say and what I meant by slow is that the majority of my weight was lost over the first couple of months while the last couple of months weightloss-wise has been really slow comparatively Anyway all the best for your continued weightloss :-) Ken
Guest guest
Hey and thanks for your reply I did plateau for a whole month but I just kicked up my workout. I do have very little restriction indeed so I'm guessing its just the extra workouts that are keeping the weight off etc... I have a large frame on a short-ish (5 foot 6) body so I have to work harder than most men I guess. I think I may give it another few months and see what happens eh Good luck on your continued weightloss btw :-) Ken

Guest guest
Let's see if I can throw in my 2cents worth. Stasia, , or some of the other long-term BFL-ers will be able to give you more details. I think some of the bfl.com site has changed a lot since Bill sold EAS. Nuts by themselves are not a meal. You can add a few to cottage cheese and fruit or any other protein/carb serving to make a meal. They are considered an essential fat. Now if you were eating southbeach, the nuts would be a snack. As far as flaxseed and other essential oils such as omega 3,6,9; do your own research, decide if you need it. Most body building diets are so low in fat that it is helpful to have a tablespoon of these added. I don't have a end date. I'm not sending in a packet so I just change my routine every 4-5 weeks and keep going and going and going. I don't plan to stop until I die. I know what will happen if I try to take a break. I'll end up breaking for 2 or 3 years like I have in the past. Deb On 2/17/06, voodoomedicinegirl <VoodooMedicneGrl@...> wrote: > > Hey everyone, how are you doing?
