Guest guest
Hi Debbie Wow, you and I sound very much alike. Maybe you and I can exchange emails and keep in touch. I met on this group and we try to keep in touch, although I am very guilty of not writing since many times I am not up to it. I don't live in Florida but my parents and oldest daughter does. They live in Boynton Beach. I live in upstate New York. I try to visit them in the winter and this winter spent 3 months there, although it was very difficult for them to understand what I am going through with the withdrawals and my neck. They always tell me to suck it up, get out and just deal with it. But its not that easy as you know. I too try to distract myself but it is always with me and distractions don't usually work. I have a really tough time sleeping since my neck just tightens up so much it feels like my skin is stretching and twisting, Now my forehead feels this way too and it pushes down on my eyes and they swell up and I get even more dizzy. It's the most horrible feeling, About the incident with the benzos, wow, haven't heard that word used except on my benzo support group, I too almost stopped cold turkey, but not out of choice but because I couldn't get a doctor up here to prescribe me more and I ran out, ended up in the ER in severe withdrawals and they had to re-instate me. I was on the xanax for only 3 months but because xanax is very short acting and tightly binds to the neurons, addiction to it happens very quickly, usually in as little as a few days. I belong to the big benzo board and they told me I had to use valium a long acting benzo to get off the xanax and I did a very slow 18 months taper to get down to practically 0 from 20mg of valium which is the equivalency of 1mg of xanax. I am off now almost 7 months and because benzos are very powerful muscle relaxers, especially valium, the absence of taking them are causing my muscles to do weird things and the w/d has affected my most weakest part of my body, my neck. Since a lot of the things I have now I didn't have before ingesting the benzos, I contribute to withdrawals and am hoping that within a year or 18 months when most people recover, some of these crazy symptoms will go away or diminish some and I can go back to having what I had before. Not that they were fun to live with, but somehow I managed. So you would not suggest neck surgery for my symptoms which isn't pain. I do ache alot there especially when the weather changes or a storm is coming in. I told my husband that I should have been a weather girl since I would get the forecast right everytime, lol Maybe you, and I can correspond since we seem to have a lot in common. That would be great. Thank you so much for responding to my post. Take care of yourself, Love, Nanci P.S sorry to the group for taking up your time regarding the benzos. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Hi everyone, > > > > > > > > I have had this awful neck problem for years and years and my > MRI > > > > shows loss of natural curve, disc problems in C-3 and C-4 and > C-6 > > > and > > > > 7 with arthritis and foramen narrowing. > > > > > > > > I have alot of neurological problems from dizziness, > > > lightheadedness, > > > > forehead tightness and spasms, muscle rigidity, neuralgia, eye > > > > involvement, spaced out feeling, photosensitivity, and so many > > more > > > > neurological symptoms. > > > > > > > > My question is this...why do I not hear anyone talking about > > these > > > > problems? Guest guest
Hi Nanci, I'm glad you wrote back! I can relate to everything you are explaining that you're going through as well as every word you are using! I am always saying that I could be a weather girl too!! Certainly could use the money that's for sure!! It's hurricane season here, as you know, and we've been getting daily storms (nice out today though) I feel soo much pressure and it hurts my head bad as well as my neck and body when they're moving in. Sometimes when it doesn't look like rain yet and I'm saying it people will question me...I always get a " told ya " in there! Yes, we are very much alike! I would love to keep in touch with you. It feels so good to be able to talk to others that understand me. I have so many things going on that I should talk about but without leaving the house much except to go to the doctor, on top of not driving it's hard to keep or make friends, they think I'm blowing them off or something because I can't keep plans or make plans because of how I feel, but that doesn't mean that I don't still need someone to talk to. Surgery: EEEEKS! Unless you have to do it...and I mean HAVE to do it, I wouldn't! It made me go from being like you...with definate problems but not a lot of pain to having a " Successful " surgery and being left with A LOT of pain that never went away. Of course this is different with everyone but I have heard that many have gone in with no pain and come out with pain that didn't leave. Not trying to scare you about it, each case and each person is different and it depends on what they want to do also. Please do email me. I would love to talk some more! Lots to say and I feel like I am being a board hog today!! Email me at my address and I will give you my main email address that I check more frequently...Cindi you too. Are you on messenger? Okay, enough babbling, I've gotta go beat myself up with the shower massage!! Hurting! DebbieCarlomagno@... I'm home most of the time, but always forget to sign into the instant messenger. Email first and I can sign on if you are on. Or we will talk via email...just thinking of how you, I and can talk at the same time and get to know one another since we have so much in common. Hugs to you, I understand!
