Subject: passed away last night RE: Remember the prisoners as if chained with them Date: Fri, 6 Jan 2006 09:50:17 -0500 (EST) Dear Cassie, My sweet, precious son, Anson Brockman, passed away last night. He had been so depressed and off of his omega-3-fatty-acid found in fish oil for a few months.... I saw him last Sunday and he was not himself. He hung himself last night at 6:52 pm.... Thank you for your prayers. Love, --- =================\\ I want you to know a bit more about Chris. I initially met his mother, when she sent a message to my address that was circulating with the anti-drug petitions we were circulating, and found our SSRI medications group. See: http://www.petitiononline.com/lilpro http://www.petitiononline.com/effexor http://www.petitiononline.com/oky71 Here is the first message I received from her: From: " Brockman " Reply-SSRI medications SSRI medications Subject: THANKS FOR THE PETITION Date: Thu, 14 Feb 2002 19:59:57 -0600 THANKS FOR THE PETITION. What other grass roots campaign activities are being taken and what media attention has been generated for the petition and other activities? What is the physical mailing address to which to send a contribution? My 18 year old son is serving a life sentence for murder that he committed while on Zoloft and Adderall and Risperdal. We grieve not only the tragic loss of life, but also his life sentence for the involuntary intoxication and akathisia adverse effects resulting from iatrogenic phenomenom that caused him to be temporarily insane when he committed his offense. We are on our second appeal request for a new trial. We have post conviction new evidence that after having been discontinued from the akathisia inducing Rx, akathisia symptoms disappeared for almost a year only to reappear when Zoloft was later readministered. We have no doubt that it was the doctor prescribed medication caused the type of brain damage that destroyed his cognitive and behavioral normal functioning. We have and are continuing to suffer beyond description from the medical malpractice and negligent prescription of SSRI's and other medications at the hands not only of the free world doctor that initially poisoned my son, but also at the hands of incompetent and negligent doctors in the penal institutions. When will the pharmaceutical killing fields be stopped? How many more have to die as a result of these defective prescription drug products? I am a religious volunteer who counsels inmates and am shocked at the number of prisoners who have had catastrophic adverse and toxic reactions to their medication which caused them to commit crimes. They are experiencing some of the same Rx reactions while still on some of the same doctor presribed drugs that sent them to prison. I will write again. God Bless You, Brockman " Judgment is without mercy for those who have shown no mercy. Mercy overcomes (triumphs over) judgment. " 2:13 " Those who are planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of God. " Psalm 92:13 =====================\\ Here is an excerpt of her testimony presented at the SSRI Symposium held in Philadelphia Pennsylvania on October 4-5, 2002: =====================\\ Thank you for allowing me to tell you about my son’s story and about our tragic journey through the fiery pit of SSRI-induced, suicidal-homicidal insanity. My name is Brockman and my son, Brockman, took a life while he was psychotic on Zoloft, Adderall, and Risperidol. First of all, I want to thank my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for helping my son and me through this heartbreaking ordeal. And, I also want to express the sincere sorrow that my son and I have for the death that he caused when he adversely reacted to psychotropic drugs. Though we are still grief-stricken from this tragedy and our lives are in ruins, we cannot ignore, deny or fail to proclaim the truth and to warn others about how mind-altering SSRI drugs so drastically changed my son’s personality and behavior leading to that death. If only I had known, a life would have been saved and another rescued from ruin. Every day we live with indescribable pain and sorrow of the victim’s life that was lost and the sadness that it has caused to so many people. We also live with the intense agony of my son’s life being destroyed, his mind being poisoned by these deadly drugs, and the despair of his future being taken away by being punished with an 80-year prison sentence for what the medications made him do. Words cannot adequately express my inconsolable and unending grief over these great losses. I also live with haunting fear and distress that my son will lose his sanity again and hurt himself or another from drug-induced psychosis as a result of the forced use of these psychotropic drugs in prison. While he has been in prison, we have had the added devastation of reliving over and over the same SSRI-induced violent psychosis that sent him to prison in the first place. Although for about a year’s time while in county jail and state prison, when he had been taken off of those drugs, he had recovered significantly. Nonetheless, in spite of warnings from our private doctor, my son, his attorney, state representatives and me, the prison psychiatric doctors still had the temerity to put my son back on those harmful drugs. Currently, my son is in the process of being tapered off some of those drugs, but still has an extended recovery to undergo. We continue fighting this medication accountability battle with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) and the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston (UTMB) to fix the broken and unsafe mental health care system that has endangered my son’s life and countless other lives. I have unyieldingly opposed the irresponsible mental health practices that have harmed my son and I have demanded that UTMB stop deliberate medical indifference of continuing forced medication with psychotropic drugs and careless monitoring of and failure to stop medications that cause adverse drug events. Those, who do not want to believe that potent psychotropic drugs can disarm anyone’s normal moral defenses and cause the loss of conscious behavior if those drugs are toxic enough to the brain, are too quick to misjudge perpetrators of these drug-induced crimes as monsters. Our family and friends knew our lives were far from perfect, but knowing my son as they do, they also know that he is not a monster. My contention is that these powerful, mind-altering drugs do not discriminate between age, personality, or past history. Psychoactive drugs do not know when a 60-year-old, passive, church going man or when a 16-year-old impetuous teenager is having adverse drug reactions that induce psychotic violence. The real test for culpability is proving that the suicidal-homicidal violence would have occurred anyway without any medications. My son and I know and doctors have told us that would not have been homicidal if he had not been reacting to these poisonous drugs. In my son’s case, his SSRI-induced violent reactions, before he was incarcerated, disappeared when the antidepressant and antipsychotic medications were discontinued in jail, and then, he recovered to his normal self. However, the drug reactions reappeared in prison when these same drugs were later re-administered. Now, the adverse reactions are diminishing once again as the drugs are being tapered and stopped. These recurring medical events have made our journey seem particularly long and arduous from where we first began this pharmaceutical collision course. =====================\\ From: Cassandra Casey To: Date: Wed, 04 Jan 2006 02:04:23 -0700 Subject: Remember the prisoners as if chained with them Friends,I don't think any of us have any idea how many are out there who turned their SSRI induced violence on someone other than themselves. But we read of these tragedies in the daily news. I'm writing to ask everyone to please take a few moments and remember them. For those of you who believe in the power of prayer, please ask God to help them. Please, if you know of someone who is sitting in a cold gray cell - in a prison somewhere or in a psych ward - whose fate would have been far different if they had never been introduced to psychiatric drugs - please send their addresses to my attention and to the SSRI medications. I think we should keep a file for whenever someone feels inspired to write to these people - to let them know they are not forgotten, and that we continue to fight the battle...Recently I heard from a mother whose heart will never mend - who agonizes over the fate of her son. I'm sure many of you know her, maybe you met her when she testified before the FDA advisory panel at the SSRI hearings in February 2004. Her son is not doing so well these days... She gave me permission to share her last email with you, and I hope many of you will take a few minutes to ponder, to pray and maybe even write to her son. Remember Kurt Danysh. Remember Pittman. Remember Lenny Gall. Remember Yates. Remember Nakauchi. Remember Stephan Leith. Remember Petrucca. Remember Brockman..... and, so many others.... If you have addresses for anyone serving time for a crime committed whilst on an SSRI or other concoction of psychiatric drugs, please send them to me as well as to the Crusaders
