Guest guest Posted December 29, 2004 Report Share Posted December 29, 2004 I forgot to mention that this b.s. about mania lying dormant until you take an SSRI was a contrivance of the drug companies so they could say, " Oh, look, Jane/ went manic on Paxil/Prozac/Zoloft becuase they were ALWAYS bi-polar and just didn't know it. " A doctor tried to lay this crap on me after I was dx'd with BP and I said to him, " So, you're trying to tell me that I was always bi-polar, even though I'd never had a manic or depressive episode in my entire 50 years, and it was just lying dormant like what, the herpes virus? " He said, " Yes, something like that. " I told him point blank that he was full of shit. Then I found out later that the drug companies just made this up to get off the hook when people went manic and did awful things, so if I were you I wouldn't buy into that genetic predisposition to bi-polar illness because no such thing exists, and never ever believe what you read in the PDR because that is written BY the drug companies, FOR the drug companies, and it doesn't even cover all the side effects that these drugs cause.
