So my question is: Do other LP's find themselves in the same situation, or

am I just a slob? Does anyone have any good storage solution suggestions?

Help me,

Sue

---------------

You don't need any help! You are 'normal':-))))))))) Lin and I recently

re-modelled the bedroom. When it was finished it looked great! Why? Cos

there was nothing on the floor, nothing on the bed etc! We were DETERMINED

to keep it that way! Ha! Dam it, the bed really did look good, all made,

lovely covers etc, no clothes on it!

Didn't last! Why? Cos the easiest way to put clothes away and have clothes

ready to wear, is to put them on the bottom of the bed! Dam it, OUR feet

don't reach down there, so why not?

Putting them away means me forcing Lin's share of the wardrobe (99%) over in

order for me to get MY clothes in! Same with getting them out! So, yer,

the easiest place is on the bed!

The only fault with this logic is stuff on the floor. The floor is the

WORST place for us to work, or reach things, yet like you, it is amazing

what ends up there!

The other reason for this 'apparent' untidiness, is pain! REAL pain! We

get enough pain just living! Getting more pain trying to be aesthetically

pleasing (cos that is all tidyness is), is stupid! We get no pain putting

stuff on the bed, or the floor, etc, and no pain retreaving it, well, not

from the bed at least!

Lastly, to appease our own conscience, - comparison! I go to visit my

sister, not a THING out of place! Almost as if 24/7/365 she is expecting

either the queen to visit or is trying to sell her house! BUT, neither is

there anything to show her interests, what she does all day, nothun!

Come into our house, and like you, there is stuff all over the place, BUT,

this house is lived in!!!!!!

Which would you rather have? A house ready for showing or a house showing

all the signs of who lives there?

Amen:-)

Fred, a fellow slob!

Sue,

You are SO right. I had my bed taken off the stand and set on the floor when

I was about to have hip surgery so that I could get in and out without climbing.

I have been debating ever since (almost 2 years) whether to put it back on the

stand and have to climb in - because then I could have some underbed storage

room.

My desk (home and work) is always a mess, because I tend to place as much as

possible within easy reach. I just cleaned my office at work because we were

getting a new boss. One of his first comments was, " Clean up your office. " Uh

.. . . I thought I had!

I hope there's an answer out there for the hopelessly cluttered . . .

I am also happy that I am not the only one that can't keep a clean or should

I say " uncluttered' house!!!! I deal with this issue everyday and it drives

me crazy....I keep telling myself I NEED to put things in their place...But

hey, lets face it, it's easier for EVERYONE in the family to just " lay it down "

whereever a " spot " is available...table chair, bed, etc....

I watch my mother-in-law, and sister-in-law (average height) keep

immaculate houses from top to bottom, but as I observe them when they " work "

around

the house, it is ssssoooo much easier for them to put something on a top kitchen

shelf or hall closet then it is for " us " ...I need to plan a date and time,

when I would get the ladder out to haul the items to their " proper " places!!! I

am resolved to the fact that it is OK to have a house that is " lived-in "

verses a house that is not!!!

I am also glad to hear that we " tire " awfully easy when we do

housework....Let's face it, when we clean a window our arms are doing double the

work,

compared to an AP.

If I do gardening and housework, I can only last for a couple of hours in the

morning and I am done for the day....!! At least now I know it's my size and

not " chronic fatigue " ...

Carole

Dear Group,

Yes after much thought I DO think it has " something " to do with our stature.

I do find things thrown on couches chairs and kitchen table. Let's face it

it's easy to reach. Round tables rather then long and against the wall work

better to reach things. It's really hard at times to keep things put away and up

like in some houses hanging something up is harder for someone short than an

average person and we know how hard it is for them to want to hang something up

ha ha

Ahh this subject DID help me realize it's not me being a sloppy house frau.

I don't just clutter, I nest. My chair swivels, it is the only one in the

house I can sit in while my feet touch the floor. I have the laptop at twelve

o'clock on a small end table. A box with my notebooks for my novel at nine

at three a window shade fell down and made a perfect shelf between two chest

type boxes and a bowl of Chinese food just got set there. I can turn almost

a full circle and reach the things I need daily. My husband has a rather

unpleasant name for my nest. What he doesn't realize is that he has a nest as

well. Because he can reach further, his nest area is bigger and less

cluttered. His extends to a dining room chair for his shirts and the top of

the

refrigerator and I'll never know what is up there.

Why would I clean the counters and stove top when I stopped using them in

favor of a chair top and low microwave?

I found this site to be a great help in de-cluttering my house and helping

to keep things organized so I can use the lower storage areas to more

advantage. It has been a real stress-saver for me.

www.flylady.net

It's free and full of all kinds of information on things such as making

routines so that the house practically cleans itself, de-cluttering so you

don't have so much to clean, and tips for us non born organized people.

I just moved in the beginning of May. The nice thing about moving, is

it does give me a chance to throw out things. HOWEVER, I find a LOT

of junk.

In my old apartment I had one tiny closet and I had to use storage

units to help supplement storage space. Now I have 4 closets and I do

not use any of the tops shelves expect in the hall closet that I have

stored items I won't use on a regular basis.

Even with all these closets and smaller storage units, my house is

still cluttered. I'm working on getting some system set up for

cleaning & organizing.

I often wondered why...and I think you are on to something. Although,

my father has dwarfism and he is a neat freak, for the most part.

It is much easier to put things on the floor or the table than

getting a step stool to place something on the shelf. Then I have to

wait for a day when I have extra time and I'm not physically hurting

or exhausted. I get tired from cleaning very quickly, but I can't

stop or I won't be able to start again.

I am going to try to set up a system where I have storage boxes on

the shelves in my closets and have them labeled. I think it might

help. I'm also now seeking a platform bed with drawers under it and a

dresser.

habits could be improved, BUT I am thinking (as I pick so much off

of the floor) is any of this associated with my dwarfism? My

husband and son are also dwarfs and I notice we don't have a lot of

high shelves for storage, places to keep things out of the way,

because we need access to it. So much ends up on the floor, thrown

on the couch or chairs, or counterspaces because that makes it pretty

easy to get to it. Things are on lower shelves and they get filled

up quickly. My son's toys are all over his floor so he has access

to them, but if I step on another Matchbox car...... He does have

some storage, but again, most of the low spaces are taken in his room

already.

My mom always made us keep a tidy house. Now, she is living in Hawaii and I

am in Montana. She never really cut me any slack. Then I had a

relationship and baby with a clutter bug who actually couldn't stand that the

whole

couch was my nest, office, kitchenette. The person I married is also a clutter

bug. I had my second child. Now, I have a large swiveling chair with a nest

all around me. Hubby can't stand it. However, he cleans by putting

everything against walls, under the big trees and against the fence. He

clutter the

edges and I clutter the middle. If my Mom said she was coming to visit, I'd

quick, rent a house, put in some furniture and tell her it was home. Please,

Mom, give us a heads up before flying in!

One can explain how to set up Daily/Weekly/As is: Alerts from Google, , DogPile, Ask Jeeves, or any of the other massive search engine lists that provide an alert feature. Don't post the entire alerts from these daily modalities here, such as AutismSpeaks, Mike , Mercola, every vaccine or NWO video at youtube... and like sites., to this No_Forced_Vaccine Group. If people enjoy or are interested in links to go there on their own, they will gravitate to them, or pointed by link to them. Not the entire days alert listing from the Whole Internet. Or if they want info on how to set alerts up, that would be fine as well. But the passion which is unindating this site with largess of late, and of volumnous posts, often with off-topic content, is

mindboggling and overwhelming and counter-productive to our cause.

I know it makes me want to take a Break! There has become more posts and reading material in one day than one can possible find the time to read in a month...or more. Can't ever catch up. Becomes painful and burdensome.

Ok, that is off my chest. OH, and the other thing I remind on occassion, If one wants to press the Reply button to any post, PLEASE change the subject title to reflect what you want to talk about, if it no longer reflects the orginal subject matter heading. Gets utterly confusing, and threads go On and On and On, titled with eroneous headers, that are no longer relevent. Sort of like the post-office game.

If it is easier...........

just Compose a new email post to: no-forced-vaccination and start a new header subject title for your topic or query. Or go to the main NFV page and hit POST. (left column) This starts a new thread.

Think beFore you hit the submit button. And consider your keystrokes and content. Post anything that is off-topic, AS off-topic, (OT), so folks can skip those if they choose.

If you are particularly interested in something someone said or sent, that is considered OT, contact them off-group. This is a Very Large Group, and we can't all speak at once, or monopolize. People Are able to find information on their own, that they are seeking. Albeit, there is some very good resource info here.

And re-read the home page at NFV. Both the intent of this forum, and it's forum Use of Standards under the file section on the left hand column. Make sure this informative Group is something you respectfully want to be a part of, or contribute to, listen to, learn or be enlightened by.
