Dear Carol,

Yes - there are many here in this group who have been able to successfully

taper from Lexapro and other SSRI drugs. It's best to not taper more than

5-10% at a time. Lexapro now comes in an oral suspension formula, and many

have found it is easier to taper using the liquid formulas because it is

easier to measure out exact dosages. Though there are few doctors who

understand how to assist, you may find someone in your area who has

experience with this on the physicians directory at Safe Harbor:

http://www.alternativementalhealth.com/directory/search.asp

I'm also reprinting additional tapering guidelines. Hopefully, something

here will provide additional information you may not be aware of. Good

luck, and don't lose hope. It can get rough, but don't try to hurry. Slow

withdrawal seems to work best.

Here's the link where several withdrawal guides can be found:

Also, this link is for Effexor withdrawal, but you should be able to adapt

it for Lexapro withdrawal:

SUBJECT: Has anyone sucessfully tapered from a SSRI after being on high dose

for 2 years?

Please, I need to hear some sucess stories as I am getting

hopeless. Has anyone been able to taper from Lexapro 20 Mg

for over a year and a half or other similiar meds?? How long

did all the withdrawal symptoms last? Months, Years?

Are you back to normal. Did the SSRI's cause Tics, Brain

Damage, Diabetes, obesity??

I get sadder with each book I read on the SSRI's please help

me with support and advice. We are weaning 1 Mg a month but
