Guest guest
....but changed my mind, and thought it would be a good piece. As well as on-topic with vaccines. Have your ever heard of Peer Review, that they do to get financing and grants or other monies for new drugs and vaccines and such? Of course you have, And until now, the word Peer Review (to me) held some metal or merit, even tho I didnt know what it really meant or what it was all about. I had my eyes opened about several feature to this, from a Request for Peer Reviewers, at the West Nile Virus Support Group I belong to. I had no idea. I had no concept this is the way it is. I guess I was shocked that the medical system was going so much lower than I thought.., and all out in the open, without cracking a smile. GEEZ Peer Review...., Schmere Review Well, I will just let you read thru the REQUEST, which outlines the process. In this case, it was for Peer Reviewers for a West Nile Vaccine. Well even if I applied, there would have been no acceptance for someone like me, who probably, after filling out a secondary questionaire would not have been accepted, because I would have boohooed vaccines in the first place. Not a likely candidate. You have to play a game to get the MONEY. Keep reading. Anyway, it appears they are looking for target people (in this case - people who have had West Nile...and wouldn't wish it on their worst enemy,,,so would be prone to pushing for a vaccine for it - Right?). Well this is how they dig up a Hit for a YES vote that will get them their grant money. They give it a gentile name of Peer Review. Then they have to produce it all to somebody (BigPharm) - who grades them on their effort of Targeting certain people, or just Joe Schmoo off the street. To seduce Peer Reviewers, they give them a VACATION PACKAGE, lol, transportation, all expenses PLUS a significant monitary incentive. It doesn't appear one needs any grey cell matter, or any medical expertise at all. Just a computer, know how to read and write. and be breathing. Other drugs, vaccines or medical apperatus might require slightly different criteria, but the same slight of hand. That is your Peer??? Review!! HA You are paid princely for a AYE vote. And a bogus adventure into Peer Review Island status. Can you believe your eyes? Who wouldn't JUMP at the opportunity to sit at a round table for a few hours, sipping cocktails, for a FREE get-away, plus cash in hand. This is not even sneaky. It's down right laughable. PEER Reviewer's must be one of the best paying sidejobs around. Funny... this is the first I have seen it casually offered. (not counting the Vegas-type bate and switches for timeshares sales and the like, hmmmmm) Remind me to tell you about the time my brother-in-law borrowed a trailor to hitch up to his jeep, so he could bring home the boat he was already guarenteed to win, after only having to attend such a 1/2 hr Timeshare speil. Unfortunely, the boat fit neatly into his glove compartment. Had to buy the pump himself. Well I guess I already told ya the story now, didn't I, It was even funnier if you knew how arrogant and Ungullible he usually is, and how wise and superior he thinks he is for never falling for Those kinds of a scams. Well, go ahead and read the REQUEST...if this is of any interest to you...or makes you as sick as it made me, (DO NOT APPLY FOR THIS POSITION - that is not the intent) BigPharm is somewhere at the back of the money trail here too, like always. They have their fat fingers bigTime in medical schools and research facilities, as well as the media. And with that kind of power, they dictate and control mandated vaccine laws, and vaccine schedules and all that rot. over and above our personal rights and sensibilities. They dont miss a trick. Especially if they think they invented the Trick. $$$$$$ IT's all done with smoke and mirrors. And get patents on those secrets, make their money, and get out before the tricks are exposed. Or so they hope. You can just about see where the Nigerian scam artists, etc. get their material.!!!! A two-tier review process is used by the CDMRP to identify the scientifically meritorious research applications that fit the intent of the program. During peer review, the first tier, research applications are evaluated for scientific merit. Your organization will be nominating consumer reviewers to participate in peer review. During programmaticreview, the second tier where funding recommendations are made, applications of significant scientific merit are compared to each other and to the program's goals.Submissions to the WNV vaccine topic area may result in the convening of an onsite peer review panel; likely a 2.5-day meeting to be held during June 29-July 1, 2009 or July 8-21, 2009 in the metropolitanWashington, DC area. The FY09 PRMRP will provide travel, accommodations, and an honorarium of $900. Approximately four weeks before the peer review meeting, each peer review panel member will receive their assigned applications to review; approximately 15 to 20 for consumer reviewers. At the panel meeting applications under consideration will be discussed, critiqued, and scored. Scientist reviewers are required to provide detailed critiques based on all the review criteria. Consumer reviewers are required to focus writtencritiques on the possible impact of the proposed work as it relates to the potential for improved medical care, and enhanced quality of life and are welcome to comment on any additional criteria. All reviewer comments are incorporated into the final summary critiques sent to the program office and each applicant.Your willingness to support the FY09 PRMRP ensures that the Consumer voice will be heard.
