Pittman bond granted -- January 31, 2005 Trial Scheduled

This morning,  Circuit Court Judge Pieper set bond for

Pittman at $175,000. Judge Pieper stated that must remain in South

Carolina . Because his immediate family resides in Florida, he will remain in

Juvenile custody until arrangements can be made for him to stay in South

Carolina.

 

Lead defense attorney Henry Mims argued for 's release today,

stating that is not a flight risk and presents no danger to the

community. 

A trial date has been set for January 31, 2005 in ton.

Pittman is raising the defense of " involuntary intoxication " cla

iming that the antidepressant, Zoloft, caused him to become violent and

homicidal.  He is being charged with the murder of his paternal grandparents,

Joe

Pittman and Joy Pittman. 

Barth Menzies of the Los Angeles firm Baum Hedlund and a member of the

Defense team stated: 

" We are all very pleased with this turn of events.  has been

incarcerated for three years, since the age of 12, waiting for trial. 

is a well-mannered, sweet, normal boy who, absent Zoloft, is not violent or

dangerous.  We look forward to the trial in January when the internal documents

Pfizer hid concerning Zoloft's ability to induce violent, aggressive and

homicidal behavior are publicly revealed.  , too, is a victim here

victim of Pfizer's corporate greed. "
