Guest guest
Tim & Mel, I think once the new Surgeon General has all of this information at his disposal, it would only be fair to ask him what he intends to do with it... We all agree that those in upper management at Eli Lilly need to be held accountable. But Eli Lilly is only one amongst many pharma lords who have engaged in this behavior. The Surgeon General is responsible for the health and well being of the citizens of the United States. What is he going to do to ensure that this problem is dealt with in the most expeditious manner possible? What is he going to do for the victims? If he can't come up with an answer right away, then we can tell him what we want him to do... Mel has already indicated what first needs to be done. I agree. The governing board of all other SSRI marketers need to be investigated as well. Then, I think the SG needs to set up conferences all across the nation to present our material to every physician in the country. They need to be re-educated to the real dangers of these drugs, and they need to be warned that if they continue to prescribe these drugs, they may be held personally liable for any adverse reaction that a patient suffers from that day forward. There needs to be a regulatory change put in force... that every person for whom an SSRI is prescribed - must first sign an informed consent, indicating that he/she has been properly informed of all adverse reactions, both clinically documented and anecdotal, before the prescription is ever written. There needs to be a massive effort to put treatment centers in place in every major city across the nation where those who are now going through withdrawal can obtain help, support and advice. These centers will be required to operate completely free of any psychiatric medication. Drug rehab counselors can be recruited initially. There needs to be a review board put in place to examine the medical records of every person who has been convicted of a crime to determine the possible relationship between their conviction and the use of these drugs. Where will all the money come from to put these measures in place? The pharma kings, of course..... duh!!!
