Where do emails go?

Someone asked where the emails go that people submit demanding that we have the right to self quarantine when you click on http://salsa.democracyinaction.org/o/568/campaign.jsp?campaign_KEY=27275 and asked for proof of that. While I do not understand the rather adversarial tone of a demand for proof, I am happy to answer the question. You will notice that the link includes a portion that says "...democracyinaction/org...."Democracy.org is a site and service to which we pay a monthly fee for the ability to coordiante communication with you through our blasts and with decision makers through our Action Items.When you enter your zip code, their program automatically sends your email message to the correct targets whom we have pre-identified. For example, if we have identified the following targets for an emailMembers of the House of RepresentativesMembers of the SenateState LegislatorsGovernorsSecretary of Health and Human ServicesSecretary of Homeland SecuritySecretary of the Federal Trade CommissionThe President of the United Statesthen, once you click the submit button, it will go to all of them in this way:YOUR specific Representative and SenatorsYOUR State legislatorsYOUR GovernorSecretary of Health and Human Services

The President of the United StatesSometimes we get letters telling us that the wrong legislator received your email. We contact Democracyinaction.org to tell them when that happens and they have instituted a new program which they say should make that problem a thing of the past. When someone else gets an email from you besides your own legislator, Democracyinaction.org tells us that your legislators did, too, and that their program errs on the side of additional sent emails rather than possibly missing out on an important communication.We can track the number and destinations of all our email campaigns. You might be interested to note that 1,310,030 emails have been sent demanding the right to self quarantine. That is good, but it is not enough.
