Guest guest
Kristy, Your friend needs to also know that her worth as a woman is certainly not defined by any of her body parts. And anyone who she need definition from is not going to change their minds about anything, just because she enlarges her boobs, to perhaps make her look like a 'sex bimbo' -- she will suffer more than she will enjoy on moment of that kind of approval! Guest guest
Dear Kristy: I have not heard of specific problems with clotting with saline implants but some women with silicone implants have high levels of cardiolipin antibodies and increased clotting. I would highly recommend she not have textured implants due to the increased risk of silicone in the scar capsule. Kolb M.D. ----- Original Message ----- From: idealifd@... Sent: Wednesday, September 26, 2001 10:39 PM Subject: Question for Dr. Kolb???? My friend is considering getting saline implants. I have tried everything possible to change her mind. She has had a life long problem with blood clots. I have known her for four years and she has been in the hospital twice for blood clots. Can you please give me some sound medical information to help me persuade her to NOT go ahead with this. I would appreciate any information you could provide to help!! Specifically with regard to the blood clots. Quoting the various other side effects dose not seem to be working. I am 31 and I have RA because of implants. I do not want anything to happen to her. Best Regards, Kristy Ford PS.
Guest guest
Kristy, I have to applaud your concern for your friend. You obviously learned the hard way about the dangers of implants (as we all did). Unfortunately, my experience with people is that once they've made up their mind about something, it's set. I have found it very difficult to change someone's mind once their decision has been made. It happened to me when I got my implants. My mother, sister, and close friends told me not to get implants. At the time, I didn't know that saline implants were being linked to health problems, just that silicone was. But, no matter what everyone told me, my mind was made up and I was getting it done. Another friend of mine wanted liposuction done, and we made an agreement that I would have the implants, and she would have the lipo, and we would take care of one another postop. There was just no changing my mind. However, it is still worth your every effort to try to change her mind. You wouldn't be a true friend if you didn't. I am not supporting implants by any means. I just know that friends need to stick by friends through thick and thin. If she isn't listening to what you've told her already, then probably her mind is made up and nothing will change it, short of actually seeing pics of women who have had devastating results. You might want to have her log onto a website that has pics of implants gone bad. I believe that site is holocaust something or other. I don't have my references near me, but I'm sure Patty or someone else in this group has it. Has she heard other womens' stories? As far as for her clotting problems, does she have anticardiolipin antibodies? If so, she may get worse with the implants. From the research I've done and the articles I've read, anyone with pre-existing health problems should not get implants. And a good, ethical ps would not approve her for surgery knowing of her clotting disorder. I firmly believe that there is a good chance that she could get worse and potentially develop more problems. She really needs to think twice about getting them not just because of the dangers associated with them, but because of her own health and the dire consequences implants could have on her. e > My friend is considering getting saline implants. Guest guest
It is hard to change someones mind who is dead set on something so all you can do is point her in the direction of the information that is on this site and maybe have her speak to women like all of us that have been harmed by implants and then she must make up her own mind as it is a free society and people are able to get implants. I would also tell her that textured are the worse and esp to stay away from those but that I know others sickened by smooth and they seem just as sick or sicker than textured so I would say that none of them are really safe. I think some women just react to a foreign object period no matter what it is made of. I am curious you say you have RA from implants, did you have them taken out or do you still have them? Well, good luck to you In @y..., idealifd@a... wrote: > My friend is considering getting saline implants. I have tried everything > possible to change her mind.
