was taking the anti-depressant Zoloft before her parents' murders and

began taking the sleeping medication Ambien the day after the shootings.

Lundt prefaced her testimony by saying that neither Zoloft nor Ambien

have been approved for use in adolescents, making it more difficult to predict

how the drugs might affect a teenager.

Nonetheless, she told the jury she would expect the prescription medication

to produce a " flat " or " blunted " demeanor in the defendant, especially in light

of the traumatic circumstances.

" I've had people say they've gone to a sad movie and didn't cry when they

were supposed to, " Lundt said of other patients on Zoloft. " The drug tends to

narrow our range of emotions. "

But even without the drugs, Lundt said she considered it a typical reaction

for a teenager to want to hang out with friends in the aftermath of her

parents' deaths.

" A 16-year-old is still a 16-still year-old, even if she experiences trauma.

Teens tend to deal with stress by avoiding and repressing it. " Lundt said. " I

wouldn't consider it at all unusual for a 16-year-old to want to be with her

friends. They're drawn to their peer group. "
