The Scotish Government this month launched a campaign to encourage at-risk Scots to come forward for testing for the potentially deadly disease. It is part of a three-year Hepatitis C Action Plan to improve testing, treatment, care and support services and get 2,000 new people into treatment each year. And earlier this year, the Hepatitis C Trust called for hep C screening to be a national pharmacy service in Scotland. But an Scotish Government spokesperson told C+D: “There are no plans for community pharmacies to offer hepatitis C testing, it’s not something we’re looking at just now.” Hepatitis C Trust ish officer Petra welcomed the Scotish Government’s campaign, but added: “I am disappointed that the ish Government has not taken the opportunity to explore dried blood spot testing in community pharmacies. " The public should have a variety of testing locations available to them. This would encourage more people to come forward and be tested.”
