Guest guest
Whew! I sure stirred up a lively discussion. My intent was to provide info for each person to study and come to their own conclusions. I did not intend to insult anyone's postion - just provide info. Here is some more stuff I found. The first is the FDA Final Rule that was the death knell to OTC CS sales. The second is a letter from a doctor who says he's seen 2 cases of argyria recently. His address and phone number are on the letterhead for verification if anyone thinks he isn't real. (running and ducking) Next is an abstract of a Nov 2000 article which someone could also use for reference as it also has an address attached. Then there is a transcript of Rosemary s testimony before the FDA Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee on May 9, 1999. Next is an article by a naturopath sympathetic to the use of CS which I found very interesting and with which I am in full agreement. And finally the COMPASSION RESPONSE NETWORK'S Recommendations for Safe Use of Colloidal Silver. ine in SC DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES Food and Drug Administration 21 CFR Part 310 [Docket No. 96N-0144] Over-the-Counter Drug Products Containing Colloidal Silver Ingredients or Silver Salts AGENCY: Food and Drug Administration, HHS. Bruce Marx, N.D., CS PRO Systems http://www.silverfacts.org/pages/marx.html COMPASSION RESPONSE NETWORK'S Recommendations for Safe Use of Colloidal Silver We therefore recommend the taking of colloidal silver products in this way; Firstly, be sure that the colloidal silver solution you are taking is of a concentration of about 5ppm, and definitely no more than 20 ppm, and does not have any dangerous silver compounds, such as silver nitrate. A good guide to determining the toxicity of silver compounds is through the Agency for Toxic Substances and Diseases Registry, which has an on-line information service (http://atsdr1.atsdr.cdc.gov:8080/ToxProfiles). EPA (Environmental Protection Authority) issues a control code for each toxic substance it tracks that can cause human illness. Silver nitrate and silver sulphate have control codes, but silver chloride does not. Secondly, take no more than 5mls (a plastic teaspoon or small capful) at a time for an adult, correspondingly less for a child. Abstain from food and drink for several hours beforehand for best results, and do not take with any other drink or food. If there is a condition of fever or acute illness, 4 or 5 doses of 5 mls at concentration 5 ppm or one 5 mls dose at 20 ppm may be taken in the one day, for a few days until the fever subsides, after which time the dose reverts to just 5 mls a day at 5 ppm. When taking more than one 5ml dose in a single day, be sure to wait a minute at least between administering each dose, so to ensure there is time for the previous dose to be adsorbed. Thirdly, when administering the 5ml dose, ask the recipient to hold the solution under the tongue for a minute, so that it can more easily and quickly be adsorbed into the blood stream. Caution should be taken, not to immediately swallow the colloidal silver dose, as it may then start to harm the friendly intestinal flora. Swallowing after a minute should cause no problem, as most of the silver content would have been adsorbed by then. If the occasional dose is swallowed accidentally, it will not be of major concern, provided the single dosage does not exceed 5 mls at 5 ppm.
