ADHD drug alert

By CP

HEALTH CANADA has ordered a once-a-day treatment for attention deficit

hyperactivity disorder off the market after learning the drug has been

linked to 20 sudden deaths and 12 strokes, including among children. And

makers of related stimulants used to treat the commonly diagnosed condition

have been asked to provide a thorough review of their worldwide safety data,

Health Canada said in a release late yesterday.

None of the deaths or strokes associated with Adderall XR were reported in

Canada, spokesman Baker said.
