Hi Jen, welcome to the list! I had my 2nd liver Bx this past June. It was

definitely NOT as bad as I had thought it would be. I was prepared for the

worst....but I was pleasantly surprised. The part I felt was the inj. of

lidocaine or novocaine (whatever he used). That WAS kind of painful but over

very fast. The other part that kind of bugged me was the doc trying to find

a good place to go in. For this, he had to poke his finger between the ribs

and then look on a guided ultrasound to see if it was a good spot. My right

side has always hurt...so that was uncomfortable. I asked for & was given a

little med....I mean 'little'!!! They only gave me 2mgs of versed......did

nothing. The bio was over very fast...the recovery was a little

painful...got the rt. sided shoulder pain. Again, that didn't last a super

long time. I brought my own pain meds with me and was able to take them

about 1 hour after the proceedure.. until then they could only offer me

Tylenol (yea sure !!!!)

I was sore for a while following the BX...but throw that in with everything

else...and well...so what else is new???!!!

I would definitley want to have a liver biopsy. How else can you really

know what's going on with your liver?? (kind of damage, etc.) My liver doc

gave me a choice to start treatment after the biopsy or before....since I

hadn't had one since '96, I opted for a new biopsy. I " m glad I had it. Good

luck...any other questions, feel free...mzgee
