Guest guest
I buy raw goat milk (I hope that's what it is; I am sometimes paranoid ) directly from a farmer for $5/gallon if I buy at least one gallon at a time. Your farmer will sell cream for $4 per gallon??? Raw cream? Raw butter? Roman Food From Afar wrote: > The farmer who milks our cows is working on getting certified to sell raw > milk. Guest guest
Yes, he will eventually charge $4 per pound of butter and probably $4 per gallon of cream. He may go up on his prices since he has to go to all the expense of building a milking parlor to state standards. $23,000 for 2 cows just to be able to sell raw milk. He does plan to increase his herd slowly to a max of 10 cows. He used to charge $4 before the state closed him down and our co-op bought his cows and started a cow share program temporarily until he is certified. I hope he doesn't increase his prices, because I have a hard enough time convincing people that $4 a gallon is a great deal. It can add up if you use a lot of milk. My family goes through 6-7 gallons a week because I make all our butter from the skimmed cream. ine in SC

Raw cream? Raw butter? ****i'm now making my own butter from heavy raw cream that i buy from a local farm that pastures in season, but also feeds corn silage daily. a $3.50 quart container makes enough butter for me to eat for a couple of weeks. Guest guest
Do you think there's a chance for me to get my hands on some of that cream and maybe butter too? I live in CA. I live in Sacramento, CA area. The goats are outside eating grass all day, and in the evening they get a little grain (the farmer says it keeps them warm). He says everything is organic.
