When were you told you have this?

What lab work was indicative? Did you have large amounts of abnormal serum

protein?

Yes exactly it was when I last saw my rheumy in CA and he told me I

had abnormal total protein test indicative of this polyclonal

gammopathy/ I don't know, I think I wasn't paying attention because

when I got all my records yesterday I was really surprised to read

this.

I will quote some of this letter here " I told that while

scientifically, statistically, and officially we cannot attribute

anything to the implants that my own belief was that the implants

caused something in some people and that she was one and since

removal she does feel better. She has not wanted to start the

plaquenil and as I indicated above that is fine at this time, however

considering her positive antinuclear anitbody test and now what

appears to be a polyclonal gammopathy that this would be the sensible

thing to do. "

It just goes on saying that I have the undifferentitated connective

tissue disease and blah blah blah. I got the actual report of my

brain MRI which also is a surprise, it says I have bilateral maxilary

sinus disease, they never told me that either, of course that was a

different Dr who was a total creep. But other than that my MRI all

looks good, I notice I had high eosinophils, and low neutrophils but

they are just barely out of the normal range and he never seemed to

think this meant anything. I have 2 different positive EBV titers,

one is the EBV Ab IgG and one is the EBV Capsid AB IgM whatever that

is I do not know. I am hoping to get into see this Dr here and get a

more indepth idea of these things. I wonder what if anything you or

someone on this board can tell me about this, from what I have found

on the net it is hard to understand and says that it is and I will

cut and paste here

polyclonal (adjective) gam- or gamo- (combining form) gam- or

gamo-

(combining form) -pathy (noun combining form) polyclonal-produced

by or

being cells derived from 2 or more cells of different ancestry or

genetic

constitution gamo-joined pathy-disorder if i would summarize

it i'd

say genetic cells abnormally joined...

Well that doesn't tell me much and I have no clue what that means or

how it is affecting me as far as the pain I have or the occasional

spaciness I get(which is almost gone anyhow)

The other thing I found funny is that when my ana was very low they

said it meant nothing then it went high and they said it meant

something, but when it went back dosn they told me it probably

doesn't mean anything, how can that be? The last one I had was allot

lower, this was a few months after explant, anyhow the whole thing is

very confusing......any ideas most appreciated and I will keep you

all informed.

Thanks,

Hi e,

I want to personally thank you for answering so many medical questions, etc., especially when you are working such long hours in a most stressful area of medicine. You are, indeed, a 'special lady', to continue to help BI Women with questions, after surely being exhausted when you get home.

'Just wanted to let you know how much you are appreciated in this arena of your life!

Blessings,

, Okay, I'm looking up in Taber's what polyclonal gammopathy is---a disease in which there is an increase in serum immunoglobulin which arises from different cell lines. These diseases include myeloma. Bence protein is not present in the urine. Hmmmmm......Have you ever had a urine test for Bence protein? It is not a common test.e> Does anyone here know what the heck this is? I must have totally missed your msg about polyclonal

gammopathy or whatever you were talking about. I have

been working so much and so hard this wk, that I have

sort of been skimming through my email, and deleting

things without even realizing I'm doing it. That is how

exhausted I am. I've been working 12+ hr shifts in the

recovery room, and the trauma we get at the hospital is

just emotionally starting to affect me. Lots of trauma

involving children, and adults that is so severe, they

lose limbs, parts of their faces, have degloving, etc.

I took care of 3 pediatric pts today who were all

trauma. One girl, 12 yrs old, had been in a car

accident and had fx'd her pelvis, had a traumatic

amputation of her arm, and ruptured her liver. Another

woman had been run over (yes, run over) by a semi. She

lost both arms and legs, broke her pelvis, broke her

back, and had numerous other injuries. And the list

goes on and on.

Anyway, getting back to your question. I will have to

get back to you on that. I have heard about it, but

honestly don't know what it is. As for your IgG and IgA

(or IgM--I can't remember which one), what these are

indicative of are how old or how long you have had a

disease. I forget which one is which, but for instance,

when I had my lyme titer test, my IgG (I think it was

IgG)came back positive, and the infectious disease docs

I worked for said that that indicated that I had been

infected/exposed to lyme disease at some point in my

life, but that it wasn't a current infection.

I will get back to you on the other question you had.

Martha,

Thank you so much for your compliment. I really do

appreciate it. And I just hope everyone knows how

important it is to me to help women who need it. I am

here for them no matter what. I know that when I

was " freaking out " about my implants and had so many

questions about explant, everyone was here for me and so

supportive--more than even my own family. I know I

never would have made it through that part of my life

without the support of you all.
