Gertie: We've become a quick fix society. Many people have bought into the blatant propaganda of having to have too much, so their lives become totally chaotic as they run faster and faster on the mousewheel, and drugs like SSRIs promise bliss in a pill so that you don't have to do anything that actually benefits your body or your mind. You can eat crap food, feed your kids crap food loaded with toxins and poisons and god only know what else, you can feed your family instant meals and cook them in the nuker, and when all of this backfires and your life falls apart because you have abused your body, you can just take an SSRI and all is well with the world. I went to the doctor the other day complaining about the lingering side effects I have from Paxil, notably a racing heart and what I believe are probably temporal lobe seizures. My docotr, who is a classic Pharma Whore, made a couple of suggestions, to which I said ABSOLUTELY NOT!! He just shrugged and then admitted that that was all he had to offer me. I've been going to him for ten years and when he tried to convince me that Paxil wasn't my problem, that I was bi-polar and Paxil only brought it out, I told him to his face, " you're full of SH*T!! " He's also read my book so he knows I'm not somebody whom he can bamboozle into taking dangerous drugs. But the average person, women in particularly, still revere their doctors and think if they are handed samples or an Rx that they should follow doctor's orders. Yes, we are a nation of sheeple and it's all by design. " Blind Reason " a novel of pharmaceutical intrigue Think your antidepressant is safe? Think again. Guest guest
Glitter and Connie, Listening to you both talk about this brought to mind Robin Cook's novel Mindbend about how a pharmaceutical company began co-opting doctors with dangerous morning sickness pills and abortions with fatal results. The protagonist, Adam, actually ends up seeing what it's like to be on the inside of the pharmaceutical company and nearly gets himself killed trying to uncover the truth. Guest guest
Wow! Glitter, you got him to read your book -- that's great. So, they do know that the drugs are not the best choice, it's just what they've been taught to do. They're on the mousewheel, too. BTW, your book came while we were away, so I 've just started it, and it is a great read. (I wondered in the first chapter why there were Russian refugees in Berlin -- that was folks from the Allied camp) gertie Re: Baaaah baaaah In a message dated 10/30/04 12:01:30 PM Mountain Daylight Time, SSRI medications writes: > How did it come to this, that people feel like they have not choice but to > ingest pharmaceuticals just because the distributors (formerly known as > physicians) say so?
