Diane, well, here's the reason 's GI doc gave me. She said sometimes,

damage is not evident for many years, most people don't know they have it

until they're way until adulthood and have problems. She sees a patient

who's 70 and refuses to go on the diet at this stage!

I do believe has celiac, after all, he's tested highly positive twice

now. Okay, the doc says if there isn't any intestinal or bowel damage, I can

make a judgement call as to whether or not I want on the diet, as he is

in no pain, or if I just want to do it for the behaviors to see if there's a

difference.

She says with all the other problems we're having, if the biopsy shows no

damage, it would be up to me to do the diet. Of course, if there is damage,

the diet would be implemented, no questions asked.

Does this answer the question?

Yes, Thanks , I figured it was a judgement call. I've been reading that

even a biopsy could be a false negative although if it is positive it is

positive. It reminds me of when I was pregnant and the doctors wanted to do

an amino (sp). I just told them it was not worth the risk because I would

still have the baby. I have a friend who just wanted to know to prepare

herself. And it helped her seek information.

I didn't realize that Celiac was an autoimmune disorder. I've been reading

Kids with Celiac Disease. I was buying it for a friend and decided to keep

it. I guess we will have Rochelle's brother tested and maybe ourselves. Blood

test first. I didn't realize it is a passed on gene. I know diabetes runs in

my family.

We started the diet but I'm sure things are still quite contaminated. I need

to get a separate toaster etc...

Remember when I said, " Why are we so tested? " I think God wants us to rely

fully on him. My prayers are with you as you await futher results.

Annette, I have been having problems with my computer so I am not sure if

this will get through.

What type of Hepatitis do you have? If you don't have Hep C then I am not

sure why you are on the site. Why biopsy? Because the information you get

from the biopsy will help you make the right decision about your condition.

I have Hep C - Genotype 2 - stage1. I was ready to go for meds. I had a

biopsy the showed no cancer or other liver disease. When I found that out I

decided at that time to wait to start medication. I am hoping that

something will be available soon that will be better that Pegasys and

co-pegasys.

The scare of getting the biopsy was the worst, not the test. It was not

painful during the test. It was a little sore around the site for a couple

days. Motrin takes care of the discomfort. Don't be scared of the biopsy.

If you have insurance now, get it now. The more you know about the health

of your liver the easier it will be to make a decision on treatment. Hope

this helps you. Carol

Well the Biopsy shows the progression and basically can set a timeline

as to when you may have contracted the wonder pain in the ass to which

we refer in here as the dragon...Why not do the treatment? When I had

my biopsy I was quite reserved in doing it as well......pain, concern

etc, alot of the unkowns......well after having it done I can tell you

this it don't hurt....they put you under a deep sleep...not out! I

walked out that evening...the hardest part was when they told me I

could not eat / drink anything for 12 hours prior to the biopsy....they

use a ultrasound machine.....and they go in on the side....they give

you pain killers during and after.....it is not that big a

deal........do a web search and find out how they doit " liver biospy " .

They go in and snip a little piece off and look at it under a

microscope...you can only find out solid facts from this.... vs a blood

test.....
