Guest guest Posted July 10, 2004 Report Share Posted July 10, 2004 Hi Tammy and everyone. Yes indeed. Could be strep, but could be the " good ole fungus among us " (yeast infection). When wbcs drop, fungal infections can occur easily, and white patches in the mouth is probably fungal. If they're in the back of the throat, strep infection can (and should) be ruled out. Fungal infections can be very painful and hard to treat. Something called " Mycelex troches " (lozenge medication that you chew and swallow) can be prescribed to help. It doesn't take a fever for Mycelex troches to be indicated. Sorry you're having a tough time. Hope you feel better soon.
