Guest guest
Many people on peg w/ribavirin now started in studies, or have gotten the ribavirin in other ways - leftovers from their doctor, buying from Fishers, a compounding pharmacy (I would have suggested this to you already but A)the Schering ribavirin will be available so soon, and B)I can tell by all you've said your doctor wouldn't co-operate), buying in out-of-country pharmacies (off-shore or Mexico), and yes, some have bought both the Peg and the combo, and just used the ribavirin that came in the combo with the Peg. Peg ALONE is probably slightly less effective than the old combo as far as getting a sustained response. Probably though, the peg is more effective at helping cirrhosis than the old 3 times a week interferon. Peg WITH ribavirin is the best of course. You have an easy to treat genotype, luckily. I can't tell you what to do, all I can say is what I would do if I were in your situation: I either wait a few weeks on the ribavirin, or I would start on the Peg-Intron and then add the ribavirin as soon as it becomes available. You of course must do what YOU feel comfortable with. Claudine __________________________________________________

Guest guest
I have 2 extra bottles of Ribavarin if someone needs it. I guess it happened when I was switched over to the daily shots. What I do not have is money for postage, sorry wish I did. Isn't it something about The World Trade Center and the others, I think about all the people, especially the ones in the aircrafts they knew their death was imminent. Where the others were surprised by it and didn't have time to dwell on it, well yes they had sometime to dwell on it but not as much. Guest guest
When I talked to hepatitis Neighborhood and told them that people were on the peg and ribavarian and asked them how they got it if the mfg hadn't released it, the girl said they these were people that were on a pilot program, study, or clinical trial, but that u cd not get it yet with the peg until the mfg released it, but it had been fda approved and I guess that would hv to mean the unbundling issue ws solved! So, question is--to those that is on peg- r all of u on peg alone or r u on the peg with the ribavarian and that is how u got the ribavarian. This stuff is so complicated, but I am finally beginning to get a grasp on it. I sure did think my problems were solved when I took the fda approval of the peg to my dr, but had no idea that u cd not get the ribavarian yet because it had not been released. Wonder what they r waiting on and when it does come out, I wonder too, if there will be an availability issue with everyone wanting it. What I mean is--will there be enough to get the ones started on it that is ready for it or wonder if there will be some type of back log on it. cher
