Guest guest
Hi All, Is anyone planning to do the Pegcombo TX when it becomes available? I had heard from my Dr.s office that it would be available in Dec'00. But I am wondering what, if anything others have heard? Also, to Lora and Alley Pat, and others who are posting about being on TX, I really have appreciated your thoughts and humor about the whole process. I too have little ones at home and am employed outside the home. It has been interesting to say the least to hear what your days are like on TX and how you make it through. Thank you for your posts and take care. Pat P. _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. Guest guest
Dear Pat, From all I hear, the Schering brand of pegylated interferon should be approved by December. I am planning on doing the peg, but I want to wait for the Roche brand, and it will probably not be available for a while yet. While the Peg-Intron should be available in December, you might want to think about waiting until it becomes available with ribavirin, although you may have a doctor willing to go ahead and prescribe it anyway, even though the FDA will not have approved that combo yet. (From what I am hearing from others, their doctor's don't seem as hesitant about adding ribavirin to the peg as they are about other things, such as daily dosing.) I have heard that approval of the Peg-Intron with ribavirin is expected sometime in the spring of 2001. I don't know how accurate that 'rumor' is! --- Pat Post <phpost@...> wrote: > Hi All, Is anyone planning to do the Pegcombo TX > when it becomes available? > I had heard from my Dr.s office that it would be > available in Dec'00. Guest guest
Hi Pat and others Prelimary results find Roche (vs Schering) PEG to be more beneficial for HCV patients; however, either is better than current combo protocol. Before you consider PEG w/ribavirin, consider one of the other " numerous " combos in trials at this time. Only have good stuff to say about PEG! About half way thru my PEG combo program, and this persistent " non-responder " is finally non-detected. Now I just needs to be SUSTAINED(geno 1b), but only time will tell. cirene --- claudine intexas <claudineintexas@...> wrote: > Dear Pat, > From all I hear, the Schering brand of > pegylated > interferon should be approved by December. Guest guest
Thanks for the info Claudine. It seems like since I was diagnosed and have learned more about HCV, I have been more aware of the subtle and sometimes not so subtle effects in my body. I'm thinking it would be good for me to do the TX while I am still relatively healthy, besides the Hep, as other health issues can complicate the TX. Thanks again, it helps alot to feel connected to others dealing with it. Take Care, Pat P. >From: claudine intexas <claudineintexas@...> >Reply-Hepatitis Cegroups >Hepatitis Cegroups >Subject: Re: Pegcombo TX >Date: Mon, 18 Sep 2000 13:16:48 -0700 (PDT) > >Dear Pat, > From all I hear, the Schering brand of pegylated >interferon should be approved by December.
