Guest guest
Hello--I hv been without a computer for the last few months and Santa ws good to me this year. I am currently trying to get all my groups back together. Anyway, just an update--as i lived in a very rural area there aren't too many dr's treating hep C around here. Currently the dr i go to hs 6 patients, and I ws the first to get on the peg combo treatment. I had an appointment @ UVA Dec 26, but that appt fell thru as a new dr hs come in and that ws who i ws suppose to hv appt with and of course they decided to shut down for the holidays. Luckily, I did call, otherwise I would hv made a trip-4 hrs for nothing. They r now in the process of getting me another appointment, but there must be a problem with that since I am already on treatment. However, I did tell them, that I wanted to get somewhere where there ws a higher volume of dr.'s that treated hep C. I am on the peg and the capsules rebetol 1000 mg per dy-160 of the peg. I ws approved for the rebetron in Sept but held out for the peg and started that on Nov 20. I hv now had 6 shots--some weeks are better than others. Yes, my hair is thinning too in spite of using the nioxin shampoo and scalp treatment. I go next week for blood work that will " tell " if the treatment is working @ all. My plateletts hd dropped to 116 and there ws an adjustment in the medication and then they went up 5 points and then started me back on a full dose again. By the way, the dr. used September bloodwork as baseline. I know I read that baseline should be done 2 weeks prior to start of treatment which wd be used as baseline but the dr used 2 month old blood work as a baseline. I hv never been too comfortable with this dr and how they tend to do things. It took me 6 months to get appointment @ UVA and now they r suppose to call me back Mon -- apparently they don't know exactly where to " put " me since I hv already started treatment elsewhere. If this doesn't work out, does anyone know of some places that r near Roanoke VA or Bristol Tenn? I just need to get somewhere that treats a high volume of hep C. BTW my WBC is 3.3 RBC 4.46 Neutrophils 34.7 Hemoglobin is 13.8. I am so afraid that blood work will drop so low that i will hv to be taken off treatment. Anyone else hv this problem with the plateletts?? Thanks and wd appreciate any info given.
