Guest guest
another GREAT book with the science behind brain development and attachment parenting is: WHY LOVE MATTERS: How Affection Shapes a Baby's Brain (http://www.amazon.com/Why-Love-Matters-Affection-Shapes/dp/1583918175) There are also more resources for parents of older kids: A great website and discussion group called: Taking Children Seriously (TCS) and the related ideas of Non-Violent Communication popularized by Marshall Rosenberg, ( ) and related DVDs/books and Parent Effectiveness Training (PET) --it's not what it sounds like, it's communication effectiveness and authenticity in relationships. (http://www.amazon.com/Parent-Effectiveness-Training-Responsible-Children/dp/060\ 9806939) by Nobel Peace Prize nominee Gordan, PhD and the great books by Adele Faber and Elaine Mazlish, especially " How to Talk So Kids Will Listen, and Listen so Kids Will Talk " (I find them much more readable and less academic than the Haim Ginott theories on which they're based) hope this helps.
