I can't tell you how that sounds like drug company propaganda. The very nature of a mental illness is that it must manifest symptoms. When they tried to tell me I'd been bi-polar all my life and I just didn't know it, I couldn't believe how utterly stupid this doctor sounded. That's like saying, " Oh, you were always schizophrenic but didn't know it. " How could have these illnesses and NOT know it? The drugs causes these problems whether there is any predisposition (which I don't believe exists) or any genetic component (which also hasn't been proven to exist!) That's like saying to " Oh, look at Johhny, he snorted a bunch of cocaine and it activated his mania. " Well, DUH!! Of course, it makes people manic, because THAT's what it does, so ny doesn't need any other bio factors, and neither do the people who went manic on an SSRI. The drugs CAUSE mania regardless. " Blind Reason " a novel of pharmaceutical intrigue Think your antidepressant is safe? Think again. It's Unsafe At Any Dose
