Guest guest
Hello everyone. I hope this gets through to everyone, as I tried last night and found out that it didn't go through. At any rate, since so many of us suffer from CFS/FMS, I thought this info would be interesting to share. You may already know about it, also. I have a study that was done by Dr. Birkmayer at town University on NADH. He actually did a couple of studies, one was short term and the other was long term. He found that NADH appears to significantly help people with CFS/FMS. The studies were double blind and the results of the short term study showed that 31% of pts felt better, while in the long term study, 72% of pts felt better. Studies going on now show that up to 80% of pts taking NADH feel a reduction in their symptoms. Also, he found some markers that may be indicative of pts with CFS. These include unusually high urinary concentrations of 5-hydroxyindole acetic acid (5-HIAA). 50% of pts with CFS had a high 5-HIAA level. He further said that the higher the level, the more predictive it could be of particular symptoms. It was also found that the majority of pts with CFS have the Human Herpes Virus 6 (HHV-6). This was found to be true in 40% of the studies participants, but may be active in as many as 70% of pts. Please keep in mind that HHV-6 is not the same thing as genital herpes or cold sores. It is just another variant of the herpes virus. NADH is available through www.immunesupport.com and the dose is 5-10mg/daily. Some people may need more, some may need less. Also of interest, valerian and lemon balm are being used more and more to treat CFIDS. Dr. Teitelbaum has studied both and his studies show that valerian is very helpful in promoting sleep, as well as a calming agent. And both valerian and lemon balm have an effect on smooth muscle, indicating its muscle relaxant qualities, including uterine cramping and intestinal colic. Lemon balm is used to ease anxiety, but most importantly, it strengthens the nervous system, enhances digestion, and relieves muscle spasms. If you go onto www.vitamincottage.com, and look up lemon balm, they sell a book written by Dr. Teitelbaum about the above info. Vitamin Cottage is an excellent place to get vitamins and supplements. They are based out of Colorado (actually Denver) and they have a wonderful line of products. Their product in particular is very good. It's called Nature's Way. Most of their brand does not contain silica or silicon dioxide, but if the ingredients aren't listed, you can call them and ask to have them check it out. Anyway, just some food for thought for all of us who suffer from CFS/FMS. Let me know if you have any questions. e
