" I then threw up my hands and left her office and never went back. > Yes, but NOW you are trying to argue the same thing your therapist said -- that Zoloft " activated " your bi-polar illness. These drugs CAUSE both mania and depression without any pre-existing tendencies, genetic components, or anything else. " Activated " is a clever wording on the part of Pfizer to shift the blame from their rat-poison drug to the person who took it. It's all about blaming the victim. And I, for one, am not buying it. Yes, I went manic on Paxil. Had never had a manic episode before that, and have not had one since I got over the hell of getting off this drug -- my withdrawals lasted more than TWO YEARS, during which time I was manic, depressed, and just plain psychotic. It's about what the drugs do to your brain, in that they totally disrupt your neurotransmitters, not about whether you had a predisposition to this condition. If you didn't ever have BP symptoms prior to taking this drug, then the drug was solely to blame,, not your father's genes, and not your tendencies to be bi-polar. " Blind Reason " a novel of pharmaceutical intrigue Think your antidepressant is safe? Think again. It's Unsafe At Any Dose
