Guest guest
, Is that no longer prescribed by ? Our psyche is still prescribing it. I know there has been talk about it causing the same heart problem in combination with certain other meds like Propulsid did. I called our Pharmacy and the Pharmacist said that they are prescribing it with precautions for the reasons I have already listed, but says they are still prescribing it. Guest guest
Hi , I don't know about the kidneys and blindness....I have heard about the potential for cardiac complications in conjunction with other drugs. BUT..like I said, NONE of the psychotropics are without risk of some side effect. It's the same with all the other meds as well. If you haven't already, you should read what the PDR has to say about the possible side effects of seizure meds, catapres, etc. The potential side effects for all these meds would curl your hair! LOL The thing to remember is that when the " potential " side effects are listed for any drug, (at least with respect to the PDR) it just means that the particular side effect happened at least once to someone. It doesn' t mean it will happen or even that it is likely. My best source of info with respect to drugs has been the " Complete Guide to Prescription and Non-Prescripition Drugs " , by H. Winter Griffith, M.D. It is written in plain language and includes common, infrequent, and rare side effects and list them that way. It also includes what the drug might interact with in regard to other drugs and even food, etc. It has basicly all the info that the PDR contains except it is understandable and cheaper! Guest guest
, You're right. I would be really interested to hear what your new doc recommends with regard to medication, if you decide to try something again. There are so many drugs out there and maybe he (she?) has had success with something that our doc hasn't had experience with. Terry

Guest guest
, I hear you. Of all the meds that is on, the one I would like to lose the most is the Depekene. I'm not sure why I feel that way, but for some reason, it really bothers me. I look forward to hearing what your new doc has to say. Guest guest
Terry, I know it can do terrible damage to the kidney and we were told the nerves in the eyes(causing blindness?). We did use it for about 6 months for JJ. When we asked about taking him off our reg peds dr. didn't know what else to put him on. That is when we switch to a psych. And now I have found a better dr to see JJ, . . I hope. & Garry, parents of (10 ds), (9 ds), JJ (7 ds/autism/celiac), (6 ds/ADHD/Celiac), and Esther (4 ds). Guest guest
Terry, As you and others have said we have to weigh the risks and make a descision from there. & Garry, parents of (10 ds), (9 ds), JJ (7 ds/autism/celiac), (6 ds/ADHD/Celiac), and Esther (4 ds). All adopted.

I have not looked at the chemical formuala so I can't comment on whether it is a deriviative of pheylpiperidine. I know when we looked at other drug, there were similar names to their ingredients. Do you have the formula?? " Blind Reason " a novel of pharmaceutical intrigue Think your antidepressant is safe? Think again.
