The programmes will be distributed primarily through the internet. The deal with HealthMedia covers GSK's nicotine-based products, such as Nicorette chewing gum and NicoDerm patches in the UK and Nicabate patches in Australia and New Zealand, sold as NiQuitin elsewhere, designed to help people quit. The deal with HealthMedia, initially for development in Europe and Japan, will allow smokers who want to kick the habit, to sign up free of charge for a personalised programme, which will be based on their needs and medical history, as long as they have bought one of GSK's products. The agreement does not include the controversial non nicotine-based Zyban. Last week, the Medicines Control Agency last week revealed that 57 people died in the UK after taking the Zyban anti smoking treatment, since its launch in July 2000. © AFX News Story filed: 18:31 Wednesday 23rd January 2002ADD THESE SUBJECTS TO YOUR NEWS: Find out how GlaxoKline Alerts by sector - Pharmaceuticals SHARE THIS NEWS:Email this story to a friend RELATED STORIES: GlaxoKline licenses in pre-clinical drugs from Bayer 09:44 Monday 18th February 2002 GlaxoKline, Roche in postmenopausal osteoporosis treatment tie-up 07:34 Friday 7th December 2001 More related stories CHECK FOR MORE ON: Joint ventures UK Pharmaceuticals Glaxosmithkline PLC AFX business wire Business Home - Your News - News - Entertainment - Sport - Business - Weather - Video Reports - Going Out - TV Guide - Site Directory - News Search - About Ananova - Contact Ananova Copyright © 2002 Ananova Ltd Terms and conditions of use - Privacy policy - Corrections
