Guest guest
When a person has no insurance and they need to see a doctor sometimes there is no other choice. Free clinics may take two months just to get in and they really are not equipped to handle most of the cases like us. They are good for colds, etc, not 24/7 pain from neck or back issues. ine Re: anger and grief... Deb Folks go to the ER all the time where I live. Guest guest
I don't see where ERs are equipped for us either. I don't have insurance nor even an income because I am trying to get disability social security. I have been to the ER when the pain would become so extreme or I would be so swollen I couldn't breathe deeply. I was given tests I didn't need and told to see my doctor, which I can't afford. Â On the topic of going to multiple ERs: Our local ER's are very suspicious of people that they see frequently for pain issues because of the rampant abuse and street dealing of narcotic pain medications. Why would someone go to an ER that is not near where they live ( travelers not included)? The main reason for ERs is being near you so you can get help quickly. By going to one not near to you as a walk in you are raising suspicion by the people you are wanting to treat you. It is getting increasingly hard for people who honestly need these medications to get them because of so many that don't. Â Jane H. > > Darn... I feel bad for you.. Guest guest
If seeking ER care for a chronic problem in search of pain medicine is called doctor shopping......from 10 years in hospital administrationand 12 years of patient care (ICU/ER/recover room) once a patient is determined to be a " frequent flyer " they find it difficult to find medical care. Before HIPA laws ERs would communicate drug seeking behavior of patients. by name..now they still do they just dont use the patients name......doctor shopping is usually done with patients complaining of migraines, back pain, etc. It was always strange when patients " hit " one ER the others in the area were hit as well. Find a health clinic that offers care according to sliding scale. The best place to find them is in urban/cities....if you want to tell me the city and state you live in I can find a couple for you.... Guest guest
There are clinics that are equipped to take care of ALL but a few very specialized medical problems. It will not be immediate gratification however.  Every time a patient goes to an ER they are referred to a physician on call.  Even if you dont have insurance the doc still has to see you and you will be expected to pay for the services. i compare going from ER to ER for care, if its in fact so no bill is paid, to taking your car from shop to shop to see who will fix it for free.....many ER's now ask for money when you go to leave Another idea, is to search for clinical trials for headaches...there is never a cost, if the treatment is successfull often you can stay on the med for 1 years after the study at no cost to you... Another good place to look is Catholic institutions of health care such as the Sisters of Mercy, St 's, and the ian Brothers.......Another good way to search is to contact a social worker at a local hospital....they often can find referrals and reduced cost care that the average person doesnt know about...... If none of these work, let me know and I can give you some other avenues.....
