SSRI induced PSORIASIS ........is this a result at last?

I have been very very fortunate to have jumped right off the SSRI

treadmill FOR GOOD.

The getting off is far from easy but carried the double bonus in that

I no longer have to take anti convulsants to control temp lobe

epilepsy.

So my head is really clearing out of an SSRI hell that lasted for

more than a decade.

I accept that some form of treatment MAY have been needed for me

following my innocent part in a near fatal head on road smash with a

drunken driver called Nixon.

Seroxat may or may not have a valid role in the short term management

of depression but it was never approved for continuous

management .........no SSRI is approved for that role ..........and

hence my descent into a personalised " legal drug " hell.

Now drug free my head is settling .........but what about that SSRI

induced PSORIASIS.

I have been attending a consultant skin specialist in Belfast for

nearly 10 months. I was given a POTENT topical Steroid cream called

Diproscalic acid. Whilst this steroid dampens down the " red flare up "

and hence the itch it also so thins the skin as to be dangerous.

I was further given a simple Emollient called Epaderm. This is a

simple mixture of Emulsifying wax bp 30% and the balance is parafin

wax.

The Epaderm is to be used as a simple soap substitute in

bathing....and a lube for the dry skin.

Over the last number of days I have experimented with a simple

whirlpool Jauckizi attachment for my bath.

This item was bought in a car boot sale for £10 ...........yes a

crispy tenner ..............and would you believe that the bubbles in

the warm water just blow off the hard painfull scales caused by the

psoriasis.

Nobody can tell me exactly what damage has been caused to my skin by

Seroxat nor indeed will there ever be a cure.

However the day to day management of the condition has been greatly

eased.

The painfull disfigurement can be blown off by air bubbles in

softened warm water ...............and I can get by with less and

less of the steroid cream.

" You don't need a pill for every ill "
