Guest guest
Ok, thanks. See, I was confused about that cause the first time I took my little one to the doctor and I was arguing against him, one of my main points was that even if he aquired immunity, it wouldn't last very long. He said....oh no, it's life long immunity. So then I asked him why booster shots were needed and he pretended not to hear me and did not answer the question at all. I didn't know then as much as I know now.....mostly thanks to this group. > > Because they do admit that vaccine immunity does wear off so you have to > boost it b/c the body can't possibly defend itself w/o their " help " > > > > Nita, yes my hands are full, but not my heart: 14, Jon 12, > 10, 8, 6, Christian (RIP: 7/16/03 to 8/22/04), 1, > and due 2/08 > Some minds are like concrete: > Thoroughly mixed up and permanently set. > > > > > No virus found in this incoming message. > Checked by AVG Free Edition. > Version: 7.5.484 / Virus Database: 269.13.0/980 - Release Date: > 8/30/2007 6:05 PM > > > > No virus found in this outgoing message. > Checked by AVG Free Edition. > Version: 7.5.484 / Virus Database: 269.13.0/980 - Release Date: > 8/30/2007 6:05 PM > > > >
Guest guest
One of the explanations I received went as follows (try to stay with me because there were huge holes in this vet's logic): 1 - Animals at HIGH risk of coming into contact with a disease need boosters MORE often to keep ACTIVE immunity circulating (actual antibodies versus memory cells which she considers INACTIVE). 2 - Animals at LOW risk for diseases can POSSIBLY get away with LESS frequent boosters since their chances of coming into contact with the disease are reduced by whatever means/factors. 3 - Titers are an " accurate " measure of immunity and should be used regularly to determine if " boosters " are needed. If they are " low " (not non-existent), the patient " needs " a booster. If it's non-existent, of course, they need a booster. The argument she was making is that it takes too long for memory cells to kick into gear and start pumping out those antibodies, so you want antibodies circulating at all times for " good " immunity to exist. She said that the memory cells take " so long " to kick into gear that it puts the patient at risk for a more severe infection than if they have " active " immunity in the form of antibodies. She indicated it takes hours and even days for memory cells to spur the production of the required antibodies, and even hours could mean the difference between life and death from parvo or distemper. Needless to say, there are some serious and sizable holes in her logic, not to mention her understanding of the immune system, and I'm sure many of you can immediately see every huge flaw in the above statements without too much difficulty. Unfortunately, human doctors (especially shot-happy pediatricians) seem to have the same flawed logic. At least the ones I've talked to. They've often made me glad hubby and I don't have children. It's hard enough fighting the vaccine-battle with vets. I can't even imagine how much more difficult it must be when it's your human children. Anyway, that's how it was laid out for me. All I could do was sit and shake my head that anyone can be SO blind and think that mess is logical, much less in line with what IS known about how the immune system works. :-( Dawn T
Guest guest
I have no proof of it but I would suspect that, in some cases, the dose they think is required would be so toxic that they couldn't give it all at once. Calling the rest of the poison a booster works good for them. Guest guest
So if booster shots are necessary to keep up immunization and adults rarely get them, then why don't adults have all of these diseases that are vaccinated for. > > One of the explanations I received went as follows (try to stay with me > because there were huge holes in this vet's logic): > > 1 - Animals at HIGH risk of coming into contact with a disease need boosters > MORE often to keep ACTIVE immunity circulating (actual antibodies versus > memory cells which she considers INACTIVE). > > 2 - Animals at LOW risk for diseases can POSSIBLY get away with LESS > frequent boosters since their chances of coming into contact with the > disease are reduced by whatever means/factors. > > 3 - Titers are an " accurate " measure of immunity and should be used > regularly to determine if " boosters " are needed. Guest guest
Hi, everyone. I'm sure a lot of you have gone through this situation, so I'm really needing some advice. My son will be 4 at the end of this month and will be due for booster shots I believe, and his daycare will probably ask to get vaccines updated. Unfortunately, I didn't become educated on vaccines until he had already gotten all on the schedule through 15 mos. old, but thanks to the plethora of info on the internet I was able to get educated and I plan to NEVER vaccinate my son again. So my question is, do I beat the daycare to the punch and give them a letter citing my state law for religious exemption or do I first wait for them to bring up the updates? I think they're a very busy daycare and may forget to mention the updates on vaccines anyway, but I would feel better knowing what some of you recommend. Thanks in advance! Guest guest
I would give them the exempt form now and not wait until they approach you with the updated vaccine info. Make sure you keep a copy for yourself as well, as many of these schools like to say that they never recieved a copy from parents who wish to have their child exempted. no-forced-vaccination From: m_young26@...Date: Mon, 11 Jan 2010 16:19:34 +0000Subject: Booster Shots Hi, everyone. Guest guest
Some parents have gotten themselves into trouble with the governing authorities when they do not 'timely claim' their right to exempt their child from mandatory vaccines. The 'timely claim' being a letter to the institution which by law is required to tell you that your child must be vaccinated. Of course, those institutions do not tell you that you have a lawful right to exempt your child by your state's laws. Thus, the legal ease is that the parent was negligent by not staking their rightful exemption in a timely matter. Booster Shots Hi, everyone. Guest guest
Since you have already shown proof that he has been vaccinated in the past reminds me of something I read about nurses refusing to take the swine flu shot or be fired. Those who did not get vaccines in the past weren't fried but because the ones that had been vaccinated in the past refused the H1N1 were fired. There must be another exemption you can use...perhaps the truth??? It can harm your child. I didn't find out about the dangers until my sons were vaccinated. I had three smallpox vaccines as a child because the first 2 'didn't take'. I have had so many health issues related to it now that I look back. It is tempting to fill in the paperwork yourself or find another childcare person. May the sounds of the universe bestow upon you HEALTH, happiness, peace and LOVE. Guest guest
Does your state have an exemption form or do you need to write a letter? Complete this on your own. Do not go in to defend your position or go in for discussion---it is your child after all and while you may feel the need to explain your ideas, they make consider it a legal conversation later. Just give the daycare the exemption form (whatever your state process is) and watch them place it in her file and leave. If they want to push your rights, contact a lawyer who fights vaccine cases. These are my suggestions---if the staff isn't on some wild goose chase, they should be fine. > > Hi, everyone. If and when they ask for booster documentation is when you present them with your religious exemption letter. Good luck. Guest guest
I say do it now before it becomes a battle. If you wait for them to send you notice he is due and then pop in with an exmpetion letter human nature might be that they will challenge you. The other thing is if this is a privately owned day care they may still be able to refuse the exemption. I went through this many years ago with my now 15 year old Granddaughter. I live in Massachusetts. Fortunately for me this Day care accepted state vouchers so they had to comply with the State law of accepting religious exemptions. Remember the the best defense is a good offense. I can understand why you would not want send out a red flag, but My question is did they ask you for his shot records when he first enrolled. Most day cares have visits from local boards of health to make sure their records are up to date. > > Hi, everyone.
