Guest guest
" Rush for Student Vaccines " Baltimore Sun (12/23/06) P. 1B; , Sandy A land state law that went into effect this year stipulates that students in grades six through nine must be vaccinated against hepatitis B and chickenpox by Jan. 2. However, upwards of 55,000 students have yet to get the vaccines, according to land State Superintendent of Schools S. Grasmick. The new law allows students to obtain a 20-day grace period if they can confirm they have an appointment to get inoculated. However, pupils who are not in compliance will not be permitted to return to school, Grasmick said. County health departments statewide have been arranging clinics to administer vaccinations, often providing them for free or at low cost. Grasmick said the health department will still provide immunizations after the deadline and that suspended students would be permitted to return to school the same day they get vaccinated. However, because the hepatitis B vaccine involves a series of three injections, students still could face suspension in spring if they fail to get second and third doses _________________________________________________________________ Find sales, coupons, and free shipping, all in one place!
