Guest guest
Hi all, I don’t know if anyone remembers but we were rear ended back in Oct. My back & neck pain was coming along VERY well until the accident. That accident (not our fault) caused some discs to bulge (dx via MRI) in my neck <fun> and I’ve hit a wall. I’ve been going to massage therapy and chiropractor visits. We backed off on the adjustments because they seemed to be causing more pain. Last Fri, I had a massage with a gal that I haven’t been to in at least 1 ½ months (maybe longer). By Sunday, I had pretty bad sharp shooting pains down my left arm and the right arm had shooting pain and the pins and needles feeling going on. This was new after the accident (I never had those symptoms before the accident). My neck began throbbing with sharp pain. Monday I iced again but had to take my mom to the doctor so couldn’t take care of my little problem. By Monday afternoon I noticed my left hand was swelling up and my right hand was getting stiffer (like when it first begins to swell but hasn’t swelled much yet). Tuesday, I felt so lousy I called the chiro and they had me come in. He adjusted me and tapped on my wrist with that metal thingy. Sorry…I don’t have a clue what it is. They said to come in again if there was no improvement. Well, I couldn’t get in today and I can say this…there is NO improvement…in fact, its worse. What should I do? I have an appointment with an ortho that “specializes” in backs (through many praises of this doc, I called for an appointment). The earliest they can get me in is in three weeks, March 6! I requested to be put on a cancellation list. My left hand is so swollen it hurts to barely touch it and it’s going up my arm. My right hand is starting to hurt pretty badly as well and my neck is killing me. I’ve been icing it and even after two hours of icing, I can still feel the pain. The chiro thinks I’ve got a pinched nerve in my neck and a trapped nerve (?) in my hand. For months my hands/arms go numb every night like someone else described theirs doing. So, do I keep the massage appointments? How can I get the swelling in my hands to go away? My wedding ring is getting a tad snug, which concerns me. It’s not terribly snug now, but it very well may get there. I’m feeling very depressed about all this and cry daily. Luckily my lower back is only sore once in awhile. It recovered pretty well.
